Vintage Japanese Moriage Ashtray
Vintage from the 1950s
Materials: Porcelain, Paint
Vintage Japanese Moriage Ashtray. This bright porcelain Japanese ashtray may have been used at one time for cigarettes as there are a few slight age marks on it, but I have only known it to be in my mother's china cabinet which she filled with special collectibles. As my father fought in the Pacific during WWII, my mother collected several items from Japan and China in the years after the war, so I am assuming this was made circa 1950's as it has a brownish/orange patent mark on the back of the ashtray. It is marked with a symbol, stating "MADE IN JAPAN", PAT 105665. The first digit of the patent number is worn, but through research I found it is the number "1". The round ashtray is 5 1/4" across and approximately 1/2" deep. The rim is bright orange and marked with gold and brown. There are three indentations for resting cigarettes. The inside is painted in moriage style (raised paint) with a design of flowers and twigs in yellow, white, and green on a white, blue, yellow, lavender, and green background. The paint is bright and there are no cracks.

The hob nail vase and the Kitty plate are beautiful and arrived safe and sound. Both 5 star! The review on the hob nail vase is for a coral neckace I bought
Just adorable. As the seller said, unusual with that cute panda and a football on one side. Then turn it and it is a sweet rose?
These are the cutest wind chimes ever! They are just as pictured and in very good condition. Great care was taken in sending them to me. Way to pretty to hang outside so I have them in my kitchen window where I can enjoy them every day.
It looks great with the antique "Pharoah's Horses" picture. The horse are framed in a round shape. I added another round mirror of similar size on the other side of the horses. I'm so pleased with the look.
