Two little figurines I found in Mexico became the inspiration for my Buddha & Yorick painting.
It's everywhere!
A lifelong career in art - from Scotland to Oregon - from print/advertising to entrepreneurship! Illustration to photography. This all translates into a mixed media melding of all the facets of art I've had such great fortune to embrace.
This age of technology enticed me into the world of infinite, incredible pixels. Not the medium for every artist - but for me there's a total freedom in pen/tablet artistry - I've even been dubbed The Enchantress of Pixels...
Inspiration - It's Everywhere! My camera documents interesting snippets that send me on the next creative path. Rust on cement, oil stains, cracked sidewalks, textured fabrics... such vignettes often seed the backdrop for my next composition.
Of course I haven't traded my traditional art disciplines for my Mac - but as things progress I mostly work direct-to-disc. That means literally drawing, sketching, painting right on screen using the pen and tablet.
I print onto a heavy watercolor paper and have come up with a way to bond the art to wood panels and seal the surface with several thin layers of protective (secret recipe) coating. For art shows and fairs I mount the big panels on rustic "inverse" frames using home-rusted bolts, washers and brackets. My own invention and truly unique. My larger pieces are on my website at rosieaugustine.com. Hope you'll visit.
As the acceptance of digital paint as a creative art form grows... my audience grows too. They see it's pretty obvious that I don't just push some buttons and there's a "painting". They are fascinated and will ask "how on earth did you do that?"
It took many years of experimenting with many tools and technologies to get here.
Having taken the leap to selling my art panels at art fairs and galleries - I'm hooked. I'm not ready to offer the big stuff here on Etsy - yet - but this is a nice showcase for smaller prints and art on wood tiles, and a couple of canvas pieces.
I'm finding also that the Scottish influence is popular on Etsy - makes me proud of my homeland. I've even shipped my Scottish art to Germany, France, Hong Kong, Denmark, England - and YES - Scotland!!
How cool is that?

Growing up in Scotland I didn't quite appreciate all that heritage until years later when I landed in Oregon and eventually Hawaii!! It's always been art in some form or other. The journey continues, thank goodness. Cheers!

Yep - it's Remi - the disposer of any prints that are not perfect. Rips 'em up and spits 'em out.... Very efficient.
