It's time for November and December Birthday Celebrations + ALL THE WONDERFUL HOLIDAY EVENTS. Purchasing an intaglio pendant, mounted or unmounted, is a great gift idea. Every piece is individually hand-carved, never using a laser or stencil. The amazing details are delicately sculpted with diamonds, water, intense light, and magnification by self-taught artisan Jack Williamson, an Appalachian master craftsman.
SPECIAL ORDERS: If you see an unmounted piece and you would like to have us wire wrap or set it in a Sterling Silver prong mount, please send us a message here on Etsy! We are usually able to order mounts or Sterling Silver and 14kt Gold wire to accommodate your needs. We can then finish the item for you and relist it as a custom order here on our online store for convenient purchasing. Jack occasionally does custom intaglio as well. The artist carefully considers each request.
Our hand-made creations come with a CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY signed by the artist. The shop selection of fine intaglios and gemstone sculptures includes both three dimensional carvings and reverse shallow relief intaglios.
Intaglio is one of the oldest jewelry art forms on the planet, dating back to ancient Mediterranean cultures.
We are dedicated to keeping the delicate art form alive and well for future and present generations to enjoy.

5 out of 5 starsThis intaglio is beautiful. I love the carving of the trees in the intaglio and the carving really compliments the shape of the crystal. It is even more beautiful than the photo and shipping was very fast!
I look forward to designing and making a sterling bezel setting unique (maybe mixed metals) just for this crystal.

From Farm to Fantasy!
Jack began carving on Ohio mussel shells as a teenager in the 1970's and quickly embraced working with driftwood, bone, deer antler, and stone. With dedicated practice, he learned to create life-size chainsaw sculptures as well as hollow wooden hand drums with unique carved portraits on their sides. Gradually, Jack took on the challenge of carving precious and semi-precious gem material, quartz in particular. He taught himself the intaglio process, or reverse shallow relief carving, and employed a method using dentist drills, water, and fine diamond-tipped bits. The water spray is necessary for keeping the diamonds from getting too hot during the sculpting process, so much of the sculpting takes place in reverse through the refraction of water. It is an amazing art form, requiring excellent eye sight, a steady hand, and years of patient practice.
Jack's jewelry creations include 3-D pendants and quartz standing points, as well as fine intaglio in gem materials such as quartz, amethyst, citrine, aquamarine, topaz, tiger-eye, jade, turquoise, sapphire, and opal. Jack has been a featured artist on Jewelry Television. His angels, wolves, dragons, hummingbirds, and equine portraits have been especially popular on TV. His work has been exhibited in both America and Europe in fine gift galleries and at jewelry expositions. Jack was honored to be the first gemstone sculptor in the world to carve Turkish Diaspore.
Jack's artwork supports the real blue-eyed, white, and cream-colored Ghost Horses of eastern Kentucky. Ghost Horse Highland Farm near the border of the Daniel Boone National Forest is the permanent sanctuary for these rare Kentucky Mountain Saddle and Mountain Pleasure Horses. Anne Severn Williamson, sales manager for GhostHorseGifts, is the author of The Fairy Lore of Ghost Horse Hollow, a nine-part fantasy book series which features the beautiful horses as well as the eclectic MacKennon homesteaders. The series is set in the Appalachian Wilderness one hundred years in the future. The fairies in the fantasy wear, trade, steal, and craft gemstones and jewelry similar to Jack's original designs, thus linking fantasy with reality, all in support of the equine sanctuary.

Care instructions
Fine intaglio may overtime collect oil or dust in the shallow indentations. We use a little dish soap, warm water, and a toothbrush to scrub the intaglio followed by a warm water rinse. Let the jewelry air dry with the carving side up after rinsing.
Custom and personalized orders
Yes! We occasionally create a custom order in rock crystal quartz. We usually have a few cabochons on hand to choose from. Jack considers each project carefully before offering to complete a special commission. Please feel free to contact us with Etsy Conversations to discuss your idea.
Sizing details
Most of the cabochons are standard jewelry sizes, such as 40 x 30mm or 25 X 18mm, for easy finishing. We work with Sterling Silver prong mounts and Sterling Silver or 14kt gold-fill wire. The pendant ovals are made of rock crystal genuine quartz, so tiny inclusions in the stones are normal. Many of the individual pieces are irregular in shape, or free-form. These make excellent wire wrapping components.
