Announcement    Due to the Corona 19 virus and the high demand for scrub caps, I have temporarily increased my processing time is 1 - 5 business days.. I have hired extra help during this time, so this will not affect all of the orders. The scrub hats need to be given priority as they are a critical need to the immediate safety of our frontline medical personnel. I hope that you will understand.

About InspirationalHeadCov

Sales 6,576
On Etsy since 2014

Inspirational HeadCoverings started with the idea of giving back to the cancer community after my personal journey with Breast Cancer.

My name is Betty Fimbel. I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in January of 2012. As one would imagine, hearing the word cancer was devastating news for me and my family. What I found was that I am actually one of the lucky ones. My diagnoses was Stage 1 Breast Cancer with a good prognosis.

My hair loss was a difficult hurdle to accept. In fact, it was almost as traumatic as finding out that I had cancer. What I found was that all of the women I spoke with who were going through chemo had the same feelings about their hair loss as I did. Before losing my hair, I purchased a wig. Unfortunately, I couldn’t tolerate the summer heat and the wig was no longer an option. What I found as an alternative was the scarf head covers. The bonus is that the scarves are comfortable, fun, AND fashionable.

The idea of selling the head covers/scarves started with the desire to “give back” to the cancer community. Having cancer is not only emotionally difficult, it is a huge financial burden. With various tests, procedures, doctor’s appointments, medications, deductibles and co-payments the expenses mount up quickly.

During my journey, I couldn’t help but notice the many people who did not have the support that I had. There are many patients who are unable to meet many of the financial burdens of medical care, yet are not eligible for financial assistance through traditional channels. Many times these people ‘fall through the cracks’ of the health care system, making it difficult for them to meet their basic needs such as co-payments for medication, transportation to appointments, childcare, meals, etc. These are the people I'm committed to helping.

Inspirational HeadCoverings is dedicated in helping provide funds to cancer research, education, support services and financial assistance. We commit to give a minimum of 10% of all proceeds to these organizations. The saying goes, “When life gives you lemons, make lemonade”. That is exactly how I feel about my cancer. Yes, I will make it through my cancer treatments as a cancer survivor. And yes, I will help others by supporting foundations that help those people currently going through cancer, and the ones committed to curing this horrendous disease.

First and foremost, I am a mom with three beautiful children, two delightful grandchildren and a husband that supports me in every way. As a cancer survivor, I wanted to give back to the cancer community by selling my handmade head covers.

  • Sherri Ziegler

    Assistant

Sherri has been sewing most of her life. The experience she brings to the business is a huge asset. With her on my team, I have been able to expand my line of scarves to include a children's line.

Production partners

  • GHD Simply Handmade

    Pittsburg, NH

GHD Simply Handmade is owned by Joanna Vaughn. She does all her own work with over 20 years of experience. Joanna makes my face masks as well as partially produces some of my head covers so that I can quickly finish and ship them as ordered. Her attention to detail is exceptional.

  • Lana Stepul Apparel LLC

    Staten Island, NY

Lana Stepul Apparel is owned by a mother/daughter team, Lana and Katerina.. I can’t say enough about their professionalism and quality of work. They produce some of my 'Jessica' and 'Carlee' scarves so that I only need to quickly finish and ship.

Welcome to my shop! Inspirational HeadCoverings started in 2013 as my way of giving back to the cancer community. I designed head scarves during my chemo treatments because I couldn't wear wigs. After receiving many compliments and encouragement, I decided to use my head coverings as a means to raise funds for the cancer community while giving a product that many women and children can wear.

Custom and personalized orders

Please feel free to request custom scarves.

*Many (but not all) scarves can be made in Adult as well and Children sizes, so feel free to check fabrics in both categories. I also have fabric that has not been made into scarves yet, so if you have a color/print in mind, feel free to ask if I have anything that meets your criteria. For example, if you have a child that loves dragons, I might have or be able to get material with dragons on it.

*If you know that your head size is not typical and you have trouble finding a head cover that fits, please contact me. Sometimes I am able to adjust the size.

Gift wrapping and packaging

Gift wrapping is available at an extra fee of $4.00. I wrap the item in your choice of handmade burIap bags or handmade rainbow striped fabric bag. Two scarves fit in each bag. Each item is also individually wrapped in tissue paper. I will personalize a note card for any gift (with or without gift wrapping) for no extra charge. A note written on the order form stating what you would like said is all I would need.

All merchandise is shipped in a bubble wrap envelope
