About

From CPA to blacksmith.

The shop started after retiring from a career in public accounting...being a CPA. It's not a natural step from being an accountant to a blacksmith but it works for me.

The items that are made come from ideas within plus when we see something that looks good, we try to make it and make it but make it a little better. By far not the best blacksmith around but after doing this a few years, we can make things that we hope others like.

There is detail put in to every item. They are drawn out on a welding table with chalk, measurements are made and the item begins to take shape. The items are finished by either wax, clear coat enamel or dyes. We try to make them the be we can and in a way that would look good in about any hope.

We hope you enjoy and really appreciate you stopping by the shop.

Fire, Hot Steel, Hammer and Anvil!
Welcome to Lone Tree Forge. Everything in the shop was hand forge by me using blacksmithing techniques in our working shop located in the hills of Eastern Oklahoma.

I learned blacksmithing by reading everything I could get my hands on about forging including the use of coal or gas fired forges, types of tongs, types of hammers, vices and anvils. In addition attending schools or conferences on a regular basis keeps the educational process moving forward and the creative ideas result from that process. Keeping plugged in to the blacksmithing community provides the opportunity to keep abreast of traditional blacksmith techniques as well as modern ideas and techniques.

My gas and coal forge as well as substantially all tools have been made by me in the shop. The main tools besides the forges that are not handmade in the shop include hammers, anvils and vices.

Blacksmithing is a passion of mine and the shop is where I am comfortable and creative. I take pride in the product and as time goes on the product gets better and better. The items that are forged today will last for years to come.

Thanks for your time and interest in Lone Tree Forge and the blacksmith craft.

Care and Maintenance
Hand forged products are finished in various ways. If the product has been painted or clear coated there should be little to no maintenance until the items shows signs of wear or age. If the product has been finished with heat and a wax applied it should be treated the same as antique furniture, about every 3-6 months. Maintenance of wax finished products should be done with wax products. After time, a was buildup will occur and the application of wax can drop off to every year or two.

Please check the item listing for the type of finish that was applied or contact us.
