Born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, I have now lived in North Carolina long enough to consider myself a Southerner. I live with my wonderful husband, our all too quickly growing up boy and girl, and our fluffy white dog in the suburbs of Charlotte.
I've been an artist of sorts as long as I can remember, drawing, painting, printmaking, but I didn't take up soap making until about seven years ago, after picking up a bar of handmade castile soap at a little boutique, while on a weekend trip in the mountains. That bar of soap was better than anything manufactured I'd ever used and, so I thought I might give soap making a try. Not only have I found a new love, but I've also solved the problem of itchy, dry skin and scalp I had before I started making and using my own soaps.
Now, I make soap , or one of my other creations nearly every night! I love figuring out the recipes, playing with the colors and scents, creating something useful, unusual and beautiful. Soaping is something I know I would do, even if no one bought it. And my love of body products grows as I expand my shop to include bath bombs and bubble scoops, which are almost as fun to make as soap.
