Going Back to the Magic
Alcuni dei miei ricordi d'infanzia più felici provengono dalle vacanze in famiglia, in particolare dalle gite ai parchi Disney. Le giostre, i fuochi d'artificio, i personaggi: mi sono rimasti impressi. Ora che sono papà, ho avuto la possibilità di portare i miei figli, ed è successo qualcosa di inaspettato: per quanto si siano divertiti loro, mi diverto ancora di più a guardarli. Ogni viaggio mi dà l'opportunità di ignorare per un po' il mondo reale e tornare bambino.
La storia della Disney mi ha sempre affascinato: la creatività, la logistica, la narrazione che fa funzionare i parchi. Ma uno dei momenti più significativi è stato quando i nostri gemelli, che soffrivano di ritardo del linguaggio, hanno trovato la loro voce lì. A casa, usavano principalmente il linguaggio dei segni e parole inventate, ma i parchi erano così magici che dovevano parlare di ciò che vedevano. Improvvisamente, stavano imparando nuove parole per indicare giostre, fuochi d'artificio e personaggi: la Disney ha letteralmente dato loro un motivo per parlare.
Dopo quel viaggio, la mia famiglia ha iniziato a scrivere insieme musica ispirata alla Disney: non canzoni Disney, ma brani originali sui parchi, i ricordi, la magia. Uno dei nostri primi brani si intitolava "Back to the Magic", ed è diventato il nome della nostra band e di questo negozio.
Disegnare magliette è stato il passo successivo naturale. Indosso sempre abbigliamento Disney, ma un amico mi ha fatto notare che la maggior parte di esso era vistoso e scontato. Così ho deciso di creare qualcosa di diverso: design per adulti e fan Disney un po' più discreti. Magliette che gli addetti ai lavori riconosceranno immediatamente, ma che per tutti gli altri potrebbero sembrare solo una maglietta da palestra, una maglietta da pirata o un design da viaggio vintage.

Some of my happiest childhood memories come from family vacations — especially trips to Disney parks. The rides, the fireworks, the characters — they stuck with me. Now that I’m a dad, I’ve had the chance to bring my own kids, and something unexpected happened: as much fun as they have, I have even more fun watching them. Every trip gives me the chance to ignore the real world for a while and be a kid again.
Disney history has always fascinated me — the creativity, the logistics, the storytelling that makes the parks work. But one of the most meaningful moments came when our twin toddlers, who had been speech-delayed, found their voices there. At home, they mostly used sign language and made-up words, but the parks were so magical they had to talk about what they saw. Suddenly, they were learning new words for rides, fireworks, and characters — Disney literally gave them a reason to speak.
After that trip, my family started writing Disney-inspired music together — not Disney songs, but original songs about the parks, the memories, the magic. One of our first tracks was called Back to the Magic, and it became the name of our band and this shop.
Designing shirts was the natural next step. I live in Disney gear, but a friend pointed out that most of it was loud and obvious. So I decided to create something different: designs for Disney adults and fans that are a little more subtle. Shirts that insiders will spot immediately, but to everyone else might just look like a gym tee, a pirate shirt, or a vintage travel design.
