Quando ero bambino, mio nonno mi insegnò a lavorare il legno e ho sempre amato costruire cose e lavorare con le mani.

Ora ho i miei attrezzi e passo ogni secondo possibile all'aperto, costruendo scatole e intagliando dettagli nel legno. Il profumo fresco e pulito del legno e la sensazione delle venature sulle mani mi mettono sempre a mio agio. Il mio cane, Ripley, ama fare un pisolino o giocare nel garage lì vicino mentre lavoro.

Ho sviluppato uno stile di disegno quando frequentavo la scuola d'arte, che celebra linee fluide e organiche e ombreggiature delicatamente dettagliate, ed è stato davvero fantastico incorporare quello stile nelle mie sculture in legno. Ogni scatola che realizzo esprime la pace che provo mentre lavoro e riflette l'attenzione ai dettagli che metto in tutto ciò che faccio.

My grandfather taught me some wood working when I was a kid, and I always loved building things and working with my hands.

Now I have my own tools and I spend every second I can outside, building boxes and carving out details into the wood. The crisp, clean smell of the wood, and the feel of the grain on my hands always puts me at ease. My dog, Ripley, loves to nap or play in the garage nearby while I work.

I developed a style of drawing when I was in art school that celebrates organic flowing lines and subtly detailed shading, and it has been really cool incorporating that style into my wood carving. Every box I make speaks to the peace I feel while working, and reflects the attention to detail I put into everything I do.
