Frequently asked questions

SHIPPING:

Most items are shipped the day of order, otherwise it is next business day. I'm parting with things I've loved and I don't like long goodbyes. I ship USPS Ground Advantage with Priority shipping upgrade available. All packages are insured with tracking and require signature confirmation. If you would like Express mail please first make certain it is available at the ship-to location before choosing that option, and factor in time zone differences and time of day.

ITEMS DAMAGED IN SHIPPING:

All claims must be made within 48 hours of delivery, which is determined per tracking info. Clear .JPG photos showing the damaged item as well as the packaging must be sent via Etsy Convo or email.

If a rhinestone falls out when you unwrap a comb that's not damage. It had been glued into that piece for decades and sometimes they decide to jump ship.

REFUNDS:

I do not offer refunds unless the item significantly differs from description. Items may be mishandled, or purchased with the idea of using for an event with the expectation they may be returned after use.

Most of the items I sell have been around longer than anyone reading this. Most will have some wear somewhere, and I strive to provide excellent photos and accurate descriptions. They are from a smoke-free home. As always, if you have a question, ask before you buy.

I hope you will understand that as the items are antique, and many are one of a kind, I can not accept returns. It is the same as you would expect from a bricks and mortar antique shop.

PACKAGE NOT RECEIVED

All packages are sent insured with tracking and signature required. It is the buyers responsibility to provide a correct address and respond to USPS or other shippers notices. If you require a rescheduled delivery to another address it is your responsibility to provide them with that information.

If the buyer claims non receipt of a package, the buyer must contact their mail service to file a complaint for the lost package. Insurance claims will require evidence before acting on a claim, and claims must be acted on within a particular framework of time.

RETURNED PACKAGES

If the buyer does not respond to attempted delivery/ package claim notices the package is returned. As noted above and on my checkout form, all packages require signature. Also clearly noted in my shop policies and seen on each listing, is that I do not accept returns.

INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING

I no longer ship to the EU or UK, I may send some items to Australia, Canada, and New Zealand.

RESERVE and LAYAWAY

I may consider holding an item on RESERVE for an agreed upon period at which end the buyer pays in full, but generally I no longer offer that option due to lack of follow through.

LAYAWAY (installment payments). Many credit cards have features that function like buy now, pay later. The benefit may already be on your card and you are unaware, so check with your card company. You will also find either a Klarna or PayPal link appear on listings between the item price and the checkout button. Your scheduled payments are to those companies, not to me and you receive the item right away.

Custom and personalized orders

You are welcome to enquire whether I have a particular type of comb you are looking for. I haven't everything listed, I don't want them falling over each other in competition.

Gift wrapping and packaging

Combs come in many sizes and configurations, which means finding gift boxes is a problem as the majority of boxes don't fit or are ill-fitting. If I have a box that is a good fit I will use it. Fragile combs demand an additional level of protection, in which case I use whatever works whether it is pretty or not. Small jeweled combs tend to be easier to accommodate, though not always, and I make it a point to find them lovely boxes. I have a large cache of vintage damask and embroidered napkins, some which will find themselves wrapped around combs with satin ribbons to hold them.
