Tip The Tails:: Innovating Premium Equine Products Since September 2020
My boyfriend, Brandon, would always half-seriously joke around by saying, "If you buy a horse, I swear, we will break up." Little did he know that just a few months later, Brandon would sign the check to purchase my thoroughbred, Deacon. We bought him together the day after Christmas in 2019. He is my very first horse.
While Brandon purchased Deacon for me as a Christmas present, the occasion was anything but happy. Deacon had been in a neglectful situation. Even after being moved to a different location, he seemed terrified of the world around him. I could sense that even leaving his stall was a daunting task for him. It took months of bonding and connecting with Deacon to get him to feel safe around people. He and I became inseparable rather quickly, and we grew our confidence together. After some time passed, glimpses of his personality started to shine through.
Because of the poor conditions Deacon lived in, he didn't have much of a tail. It was very short and thin. So I started researching ways that I could help him grow out his tail, and I stumbled upon tail bags. I quickly became a believer in all the benefits they provide. I'm a huge proponent of dressing Deacon up in cute tack, so when I saw shops selling these adorable tail bags, I decided to try them. They were an excellent solution for Deacon, and I searched for more variety, sizes, patterns, and options.
I started my company, Tip The Tails, in September 2020 to allow me to create my own tail bags and share them with the world through my website and Etsy shop. In December of 2022, Tip The Tails was featured in the Winter Edition of "On The Bit" magazine. Deacon was my inspiration, so it was only fitting that he became part of my logo. There was certainly a learning curve to starting my own business, but I learned a lot through the ups and downs. Surprisingly, I quickly began making sales and received outstanding customer reviews. With all the positive feedback, I knew there was a desire from the community for a wide range of quality tail bags and designs.
Tip The Tails carries over 200 colors and styles of tail bags. We have multiple customization options allowing any true horse lover to create the tail bag of their dreams. Our tail bags can be sized to accommodate the smallest miniature horse, all the way to the biggest draft. Each bag is handmade with stretchy 4-way and 2-way stretchy Lycra fabrics to create a good fit and to ensure moisture is not removed from the tail. Every bag is made with strong reinforced stitching and glued seams to ensure your horse can love every tail bag for a long time.
Of course, tail bags are about more than just a fashion statement. Our tail bags are designed with your horse's health and well-being in mind. We set out to create products that anyone can use to help keep their horses happy and healthy. Our tail bags promote healthy hair growth by keeping the tail clean, tangle-free, and protected from dirt, breakage, and rubbing. Additionally, we offer the option to add our Fly Swish Fringe to the bottom of each tail bag to help your horse swat at flies and other debris.
