Our fur is derived from natural herd loss in the bitter Peruvian winters and are handmade following Fair Trade principles. No alpacas were harmed by humans.

Lacorine pieces are designed by me and handmade in Peru by highly skilled artisans who live in remote villages and use skills that have been passed down through generations. Finding these talented artisans is no mean feat and local knowledge and contacts are key. The fact that I’m from Peru has enabled me to create lasting relationships centred on trust and respect and the love of the alpaca itself. I spend a great deal of time sourcing and designing my collection while on the ground in Peru which ensure each item is of the highest quality.

– HAND WASH (Recommended) –
• Gently hand wash in lukewarm water. Agitation will damage alpaca goods
• Rinse well
• Wrap in a towel to remove excess water
• Dry flat and reshape whilst damp

– MACHINE WASH –
• Place the item in a pillow case or net delicates bag
• Select a delicate wool cycle (agitation will damage alpaca goods) with a temperature up to 30° C
• Use a mild detergent
• Wrap in a towel to remove excess water
• Dry flat and reshape whilst damp

– IMPORTANT –
• Dry naturally – it will take 24 hours to air dry properly - NOT on direct heat such as a radiator or aga
• DO NOT tumble dry
• DO NOT iron

• Gripping the hat by the brim and shaking before wearing will make the fur uniformly straight and luxuriant.
• The brim is not tacked and may be rolled down over the ears at the back if desired for added warmth.
• Avoid dry cleaning or washing with soap as these will strip the fur’s natural oils. Wipe instead with a damp, white muslin cloth, left, right, up and down.
• If the hat is soaked in the rain, blot with a towel and leave to dry naturally away from sources of heat such as radiators. Once dry, fluff up by shaking or using a cold hairdryer jet to separate the hair shafts, making them stand independently.
• Store in a plastic bag with cedarwood to ward off moths and lavender to keep fresh.

Lacorine fur derives from alpacas that have died naturally during the harsh Peruvian Winters when many young crias are overcome by the conditions. This is a great loss to the herdsmen whose livelihoods depend on the alpaca fleeces produced throughout the animal's life. None of these alpacas were harmed by humans.

Killing alpacas for their skins is not financially viable. Alpacas can live for 20 years, promising a lifetime of shearing potential of far greater value than a single pelt.

Our products are fairtrade and handmade made of natural and sustainable fibre, for whose existence no animal has been harmed or suffers.
