Welcome to our light and ethereal ‘Gossamer’ collection. The earrings are cut from eco-friendly stainless steel, which is strong enough to form the very finest filigree shapes, before being beautifully textured on a series of anvils. This collection is inspired by delicate, woodland forms, the half light of dawn and dusk, and continues our themes of botanical sprigs and ancient classical mythology.
A 'Dryad' is an ancient Greek female tree spirit, whose life force was deeply connected with their home tree. Originally specific to oak trees they went on to be associated with all tree life, most particularly sacred groves. These ethereal wings represent delicate woodland ecosystems, and have a strong Art Nouveau influence.
Stainless steel is quickly becoming a highly popular choice among jewellery makers. It has long been valued for strength, shine, hygiene, and tarnish resistance. It can be endlessly recycled, and is considered one of the most sustainable and eco-friendly metals in common use. Its colour is very similar to sterling silver, and it is hard enough to be cut into the gossamer light shapes you see here… in fact, it is so strong it can be tricky to texture on our anvils, but my goodness its worth it. Our oldest anvil is around 150 years old, and its still going very strong!

This collection is mounted onto silver plated ear wires as standard, with the additional option of solid sterling silver ear wires.
