Caring for your leather patch:
- Being a natural product, leather will patina and age with exposure to sunlight and water and it should not be machine washed if at all possible.
- Hand wash with a gentle wool blend detergent.
- Can be conditioned with leather conditioner.
Some rules to follow if you absolutely must use a machine wash:
- Always test in a hidden area for colourfastness using a dampened white cloth. If significant colour is removed from the patch, then do not machine wash it.
- Never use hot water—Always use cold water.
- Wool blend detergent
- Air dry on a flat surface away from direct sunlight or heat source. Leather can shrink and become stiff when dried near heat.
All genuine leather patches will have a protective polyurethane sealer applied to them unless you request us not to.
- They are a little stiffer once they are sealed, that is part of the protection.
- They stay soft if left unsealed, but they can get grubby easily if no sealer is applied.
- You can apply conditioner to keep your leather patch supple. It may darken your patch very slightly.
