I made this chainmail necklace by hand from small interconnected surgical steel rings. It's very strong, durable and resistant to water, sweat, chemicals, saltwater, UV....pretty much everything a necklace should be resistant to. Doesn't cause any problems even to people with sensitive skin or allergies.

Closing mechanism is made from an adjustable 8cm long chain and a clasp, both also made of stainless steel.

--This necklace was created in collaboration with a classmate during a boring class in high-school. She got a free necklace, and I got a very nice design (one of my first). It was surprisingly difficult to correctly set the lenght of the chains between tips, so they would be neither too taut nor too slumped.
--Chainmail items take hours to make. I make them from wire, so the process involves coiling the wire, cutting the rings and then joining each ring to the pattern, one at a time. This particular necklace has almost 600 individual rings.

Yes, it's all handmade, either by me or by my girlfriend, who has been recently helping me in the workshop. I buy wires, silver sheets, precious and semi precious stones, cotton cords and some prefabricated things like clasps, backing scrolls for studs, long fine silver chains for pendants, colored scales....and I make rings, pendants, bracelets and all the other stuff in my shop myself.

Why do I feel that it's necessary to clarify this here, on etsy where only handmade items should be found? Let's say that as a crafter, I can sometimes recognise when someone is passing off machine made items bought in bulk for "handmade art".
