The mother of all mother's paperweight Object
Extraordinary Sean O'Donoghue Glass Jellyfish Paperweight double Large in the gorgeous colors of Teal, and yellow, with streaming tentacles. This outstanding piece was from my mother's collection and she has been downsizing as she gets older, it comes with a small bookmark by Sean and is signed on the Pontil. In fabulous condition, it is undulated and is a very precise handblown piece, it would be perfect for a paperweight or with your glass collections, and equally great as a very very special gift for your loved ones, wedding, anniversary, or birthday who appreciate fine art glass. It has a very mid-century feel, they used to have these displayed back in the 50s and 60s. I am giving a 20% discount for the new year in my shop, these value in price as the years go on, however the reduction is great for this piece.
I found a blurb on Sean O'Donoghue's glass maker here you can do your research if you are interested in purchasing this exquisite piece. It is very heavy weighing over 2.5 kg and will be registered post.
Sean O’Donoghue was born in Ireland. At age 15 he began passionately pursuing what was to become a life-long career working with glass. Sean became a master-blower at the renowned Waterford Crystal, creating thousands of exquisite pieces including stemware, vases, bowls, decanters, and chandeliers during his 15 years working there.
Seeking a new challenge, Sean O’Donoghue moved to Adelaide, Australia in 1987. He began working with well-known glass artist Nick Mount before moving to Melbourne to gain experience in a number of glass-blowing studios, including Richard Morrell’s studio and the Meat Market Craft Centre. In 2006 Sean moved to Noosa, Queensland, where he set up his own studio, ‘Hot Stuff Glass Studio & Gallery’, the only electric glass studio in Australia and one of only a handful in the world. Motivated by his concern for waste and the environment, Sean uses recycled solar panels to make glass.
Throughout Sean’s career, he has successfully attended and sold works at craft shows throughout Australia and the USA. During 1997 – 2007, Sean regularly exhibited at shows in New York and San Francisco. In 2013 he spent three months teaching glass-blowing in Nairobi; an exciting experience sharing his skills on the edge of a National Park.
Sean’s studio in Noosa is open to the public by appointment; his extensive range of exquisite scent bottles, sculptures, bowls, and vases may be sourced in galleries across Australia. Sean’s works are unique, individually signed, and very collectible.
