The design for this brooch is based on a 1977 photograph of Dolly Parton and was digitised by Wicked Barbie Designs.

I decided it was only fitting that $10 from the sale of each brooch would go to United Way Australia. This early childhood literacy charity has run Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library in Australia since 2013. Parents can enrol their children where a book is sent to them for free every month. It is open to children from birth to five years of age.

The rest of the available funds will go towards buying and building a new Little Street Library. I currently run one that it’s worse for wear due to the weather!

The brooch is made of layered acrylic with paint fill and etching details. A brass rolling safety catch is attached to the back for fixing your brooch to your clothing. This pin has been placed in a horizontal position. Dimensions are approximately 65 mm high by 52 mm across. Acrylic paint has been used to help bring this design to life.

Please note: do not use solvents to clean the brooch. They can ruin the paint fill finish and cause damage to the acrylic. Also avoid the use of perfumes, hair spray, lotions and other products around your brooch as these too can interact with the acrylic and cause damage.

This product contains a mirror acrylic. It's not uncommon for sheets of this material to have light scratches over the surface. Mirror acrylic which is a beautiful material but fragile, prone to scratching and more. Mirror acrylic can have burring from laser cutting, mottling or further erosion of the silvering or even cracking.

Acrylic has all of the qualities of a handmade product. This product was made by a Flawsome human using the magic of searing lights of lasers. It may not be perfect due the complexities of chaos and the nature of being assembled by a human. This brooch was created with love but may also include of swearing and tears.
