Handmade
Materials: Porcelain, Gold lustre, Copper carbonate, Glaze

• This ceramic porcelain pot has been handmade and then fired twice in my electric kiln. I added the gold lustre (which contains real gold) in the second firing.

• It would make a very special gift!

•The height is 15cm.

• The width is 28cm.

• Prior to firing, I burnished the vessel with a piece of smooth glass to make the clay surface shiny and to give it a shell like organic finish.

• I then partially glazed it and added some copper carbonate. Next I fired it, then when it had cooled I added gold lustre to the glaze and fired it again.

• Lastly it was polished with beeswax for protection.

• I love the crackle in the gold lustre this comes from
the glaze underneath and is unique to my work.

The copper carbonate which is painted on with carefully considered brush marks conveys an ethereal quality and every piece is totally unique.

• I sell my work to Galleries in the UK and also attend exhibitions.

• I am a selected professional member of the Craft Potters Association in the UK.

• My work is non- functional and does not hold water due to the process I use which is better without too much glaze. They are intended as fine art pots.

I can't take a photo of this beautiful pot as it is a gift but I was so torn between giving it and keeping it for myself! It is a gorgeous, tactile vessel and I couldn't be more pleased with it.
