What happens when a love affair is turned into a relationship of a mother and child instead of a man and woman? How does it look when cupid is replaced by a son or a daughter? This is one of my new stained glass panels depicting a mother and her love for children, produced in 2016. The portrait is inspired from the art of Pre-Raphaelites. The overall story is improvised from Burne Jones portrait of María Zambaco. Although in this version the concept of love and beauty has changed slightly as it becomes 'real' in its 'nature'. Maria is not as beautiful as she used to be. This is not necessarily about the love of a man but a version where a woman's motherly instinct sacrifices her personal love desire.

Right from the very start

Apart from new glass, I also do Restoration and Conservation work. Restoration and conservation of stained glass requires an ability to work in multiple styles, here I’ve concentrated to explore what it takes to paint like one of the great Renaissance masters.

For my part I am determined, in my own small way, to promote an interest and awareness of the Gothic, Renaissance, Gothic Revival, and other great styles of those eras by revisiting old masters and interpreting them in my way.
