Executive Functioning Activities for Middle School, Time Management Lesson With Skill Cards for School Counselors

This classroom lesson teaches middle schoolers how to plan their time, sort out what matters most, and keep their schedules under control. I made it for school counselors who want a lively, ready to teach lesson on executive functioning that does not require any planning on their end.

Students open with a brainstorming icebreaker, then build a to-do list together as a class and figure out what should come first. Next they sort 14 skill cards and act them out, which gets everyone up and talking about organization, prioritizing, and time management. A self-reflection sheet helps each student pick strategies to try in their own week.
