A classic hat style for men and women. Made in classic wool or funky modern prints, this Fedora is oozing with style!
This hat pattern combines millinery techniques with modern production techniques, and is designed to bring your sewing skills to a whole new level
The instructions are VERY DETAILED - like a hat-making class in a packet - and 'hold your hand' throughout the entire process. There are lots of tips and techniques for making the hat come together without being scary!
YOU WILL NEED
For a single colour hat:
75cm-1m (30-39”) x 115cm (44”)wide medium-heavy weight fabric (decorator/upholstery fabrics, cotton drill, wool, corduroy, denim, moleskin and many other fabrics are equally suitable)
For a hat with a contrast binding and band:
45cm (18”) x 115cm (44”) wide medium-heavy weight fabric (60cm/24” for wider brim variation)
75cm-1m (30-39”)contrast fabric (may be lighter weight than the main fabric)
For all hats:
85cm (34”) x medium woven (cotton) fusible interfacing (125cm/49” for wider brim variation)
25cm (10”) light fabric for lining (e.g. quilting cotton)
1m (39”) x 18mm-20mm (¾”) wide bias tape or use a ¾” bias tape maker
(You will need up to 120cm / 48” bias tape for wide brimmed variations)
RECOMMENDED
Quilt Basting Spray
Strong sewing machine needles (especially if you are
using denim or heavy fabric)
OPTIONAL
60-65cm (24-26”) x 2.5cm (1”) Petersham ribbon
