Original hand printed Moku Hanga(Japanese woodblock) print of female Purple Finch and male Hairy Woodpecker. Edition of 20 printed with Holbein gouache on Echizen Kozo Japanese handmade paper. This was done using traditonal moku hanga methods and techniques. It was based on a scene at the Wissahickon Environmental Center in Philadelphia, PA. It was a gray, misty day and I tried to keep a bit of that feeling in the print. One of this edition of prints will be exhibited at The Society of Wildlife Artists' 'The Natural Eye' exhibit at the Mall Galleries in London, England in late 2019.

Each print is a total of 8x6 inches. A small portion of that (0.25-.50 inches) is a border so the print itself is a bit smaller.

I have printed another edition on Nishinouchi handmade Japanese paper. Since it is natural in color it is a bit darker. It is listed for sale as a separate item. Before you purchase this one you might want to look at it as well so see which you prefer.

This was carved and printed from 4 blocks of basswood plywood, with both sides carved separately for different colors. One side was used as a guide to cut the other blocks so only 7 sides were used, some with multiple colors. All in all I think I used about 12 colors, with some overprinting for additional colors.
