This pattern is for those who are relatively new to knitting and may not have made a hat yet, or are just learning to knit in the round. The hat does not include decreasing in the crown - as this is a SIMPLE BEGINNER pattern.*


The Classic Simple Stockinette Hat:

Are you a beginner knitter? Have you made countless scarves, and are finally ready to take that leap and try your hand at winter hats?
Well then this pattern is for you!

In this pattern, I have included additional resources and helpful links to video tutorials that relate to each aspect of the pattern. As a beginner, sometimes it is easier to understand specific instructions when you can actually see someone doing it!


This pattern is rated at easy/beginner and uses US terminology. The pattern is to make a medium adult sized hat. There are sizing guidelines provided on how to make your hat larger or smaller.


You will need:
• bulky weight 6 yarn (here I have used Lionbrand Woolease Thick and Quick). I have also included similar yarn substitutions for you, as well as another resource for how to find good yarn substitutions for this pattern and others.
• US11/8 mm circular needles (16 inch)
• US13/9mm circular needles (16 inch)
(Alternatively, you may use double pointed needles)
• a yarn needle
• optional faux fur pom pom
• optional pom maker for a yarn pom pom


Included in this pattern:
• knitting in the round
• rib stitch
• stockinette stitch
