Description

The ball cylinder is a colourful, attractive stimulus for the infant who is ready to be on the move. To be offered to the infant around 6 to 8 months, or whenever the infant is ready to creep across the floor. When placed just out of the infant's reach, the infant will move towards the cylinder and attempt to grasp it. It may at first gently roll away, inviting the infant to continue creeping towards it. The weight of the balls ensures that the cylinder does not roll too far away so that the child would be unable to creep towards it. As the child begins to be able to grasp the cylinder, he/she will enjoy shaking it to produce the soft, tumbling noise. As the child gains strength, he/she will be able to roll it farther away, encouraging the child to the next stage of development of crawling towards it.

The bell cylinder is to be offered to the infant who is ready to begin creeping rapidly or crawling. This lightweight cylinder rolls faster and further than the ball cylinder. The jingling of the bell, familiar to the child from using the bell rattle, is now louder and more pronounced, encouraging the child to want to grasp the cylinder to produce this slightly different sound. The bars are perfect for the child’s hands to be able to pick up and shake to their delight. The child gains self-confidence when able to crawl to the material and grasp it to produce the sound independently.

Both are stained with an an olive oil finish. They can be ordered without the finish (natural wood) if requested.
