About

Stylish handmade caps - made to measure – selling around the world

Hello and welcome to BarneyStreet!

My name is Alisa, and I am a cap maker who offers exquisitely handmade caps in carefully selected fabrics and designs, made to fit you comfortably and with style.
Many years’ experience as a bridal couturiere enables me to create headwear for the discerning person, made with care and expertise.

By shopping on Etsy, people are voting to support the skilled, independent artisans of our community, rather than factory mass-production. You can see and feel the quality in a BarneyStreet cap, compared to a cheap, mass-produced cap. BarneyStreet caps are made to last. Each cap comes with care instructions. Please don’t throw your BarneyStreet cap in the washing machine. It is a precious item!

Many of my caps now feature a discreet strap and buckle on the back of the headband, which allows you to make small adjustments to the fit of your cap, so it feels just right on your head.

BarneyStreet is based in the cool climate of the New England high country in New South Wales, Australia. I love to spend my time designing and creating fabulous new cap designs to please Etsy's worldwide community of shoppers. There are many more designs to come, so watch this space!

I hope you enjoy shopping on BarneyStreet.

Frequently asked questions

Sizing details

If you are wondering how your new BarneyStreet cap will fit you, I have great news! All BarneyStreet cotton, denim and linen newsboy caps now feature a buckle and strap that sits on the centre back of the headband, which you can adjust so that the cap fits just right for you. Some people like a firm fitting cap, and some people like a looser fit. I make caps to be a looser fit, that you can tighten if you would like to.

Sizing details

All BarneyStreet velvet and velveteen newsboy caps can have an optional elastic section in the back of the headband. If you would like your new cap to cling on to your head a bit more firmly, just let me know that you would like this elastic panel in your new velvet/velveteen newsboy cap and I will put it in.

The purple velvet newsboy cap already comes with this elastic section in it, so have a look at the inside view of this cap to see what the elastic panel looks like.

Care instructions

Your new BarneyStreet cap will come with washing instructions. Most importantly, please don't throw it in the washing machine. It may lose some of its shape and it will be difficult to restore it afterwards. Handwashing is the recommended way to clean your BarneyStreet cap.

Peak or brim size

I usually make and photograph my newsboy caps with the full sized peak (or brim), which is 7cm deep at the centre front, but if you like, you can have a smaller, 5cm peak or even a cute 3.5cm peak (like traditional cycling caps). Just include a message about your chosen peak size when you place your order.
