About BasedinNoosaStudio
-
Based In Noosa studio is at the front of my home in the middle of Noosa.
Based in Noosa - Living in a Biosphere
I am attracted to abstract ideas, and philosophies. Underpinning my art is a consciousness of the finite nature of our earth, and its place in our universe. The driving force behind my work is my passion to create beauty for its own sake and as a means of expression of ideas. This is combined with my need to play, and explore clay, alchemy and transformation.
I love the Noosa landscapes and living in a World Biosphere. where I walk, cook, indulge in fine wines and dining, and generally enjoy life.
I find inspiration through travel, learning, reading and meeting other ceramicists through conferences and workshops, and the far reaching, supportive online network of ceramic artists and organisations.
My work can be seen in galleries and shops around the Noosa area, Hearts and Minds in Hastings Street, Noosa Regional Gallery, and Fugu in Tewantin. I also have work at Under the Greenwood Tree in Tambourine Mountain and in Melbourne through Grafted Garden Art.

Ellen Appleby
Owner, Maker, Designer, Ceramic Artist
I have always wanted to work as an artist, and my life has unfolded to allow me to do so. Clay is the material I love, although recently I have been drawing, particularly with digital tools, and my images are now appearing on my ceramics.
Shop policies
I am very excited to be offering a range of contemporary porcelain jewellery, ceramics and other artwork. I take pride in making unique, unusual and beautiful art that is inspired by the natural world and my personal journey.
Every piece is individual, a work of art. It is not factory made so there are marks of the maker evident. The work follows the Japanese notion of Wabi Sabi, perfection in imperfection.
If you are interested in my work then I can also make custom pieces. I can also work with photographs as laser decals on the forms I make.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions, comments or requests.
