Hi, my name is Cassandra and I have been drawing for as long as I can remember! While I have created and sold many charcoal and graphite pieces over the years, I have only recently (in the last 4 years) discovered color pencils, and I haven't looked back. I love the way they can be used to create simple understated drawings, or used in a way that leaves the piece as solid and complete as any oil painting.
I am somewhat of an eclectic artist, and I find myself shifting between styles and subjects, however I generally draw my inspiration for the world around me. I live in an endlessly inspiring area of the world. Here on the Sunshine Coast of Australia, I am surrounded by oceans and lakes, rivers and rain forest, so I find myself drawing landscapes and seascapes regularly. I love to draw birds and animals, finding great joy in finding the glint of the eye and the character of the animal, and I love to draw still life, making simple objects amazing with lighting and composition.
I am married with 5 children at home, so finding time for art can be a challenge, but at this time in my life, it has become an overwhelming passion! I am glad that my children can watch me follow my dreams to keep creating, and I find that they too are learning that you CAN follow a creative life, even when the practicalities of life keep calling.
