Copper Tree Designs Hand Stamped Jewelry
Thank you so much for visiting our shop! My name is Lisa Crowder. I am happily married to my high school sweetheart, Adam, and we now have to beautiful little girls, Ellie and Kelsie. I work a full time job, and when I had Ellie in 2011, my mom decided to quite work and take care of her. Since my Mom and Dad were going to have one income instead of two with no retirement I knew that I needed to find some way for her to make more money than what I would be paying for babysitting, and I knew we would be needing extra income after having children so Copper Tree Designs was born.
I am in contact with our customers and handle all orders and marketing as well as do the hand stamping and designing. Our studio is located at my moms house so that she is able to watch the girls while I create and then she is able to do the finishing work and keep everything organized for me to use.
We started out locally and on facebook and had such a great response that we decided to expand to the internet and chose etsy. We feel our items are so unique that we wanted to be able to offer them to more people and etsy is a wonderful outlet for reaching customers looking for our style. We strive to create unique pieces with the best quality. When you order from us we want you to know that we take time on every piece that we create to make sure that you will love it and want to show it off! We strive to create jewelry that is different from any other hand stamping shops and we feel that if you look through our shop you will agree that our designs are unique and have their own look.
Most of our jewelry is mixed metal using copper, nickel silver, brass and bronze. We also use some pewter, aluminum and sterling silver. We texture most of our metal as well which will make it hold up over time better as it won't show scratches as easily. Most hand stamping shops offer mostly shiny aluminum. I am not a fan of shiny aluminum. In my opinion, and most customers, it does not feel like metal, does not feel or look like a piece of quality jewelry and it scratches easily. Its going to take a pretty picture when it is first made and the lighting is right, but most of the time in person, and after wear it doesn't look like a quality piece. There are some cases when aluminum is the best option, such as for a child or a person with skin allergies, or a customer requests aluminum. When I use aluminum I add texture to it or a brushed finish, it is still going to feel the same but it looks a lot nicer and will hold up so much better. The positive aspects of aluminum is that it does not tarnish and it hypoallergenic. Pewter is a beautiful metal that doesn't tarnish but naturally ages over time. Copper, Nickel Silver, Brass and Bronze do tarnish, however, I like the look of the metal after it tarnishes. I allow mine to tarnish and polish it with a sunshine cloth after maybe 6 months or so. I do craft shows in the fall and I have polished and tarnished pieces on display, customers generally want their pieces to have the tarnished look. I can not make a piece and it be tarnished. After I blacken in the letters the piece has to be polished to remove the extra black on the metal. Your jewelry will tarnish in a few weeks time and can be polished back up or left to tarnish. That is a wonderful thing about these metals, you can have two totally different looks in the same piece of jewelry.
