Curating whispered stories into wearable, timeless art.
Hello, I’m Vivienne, the heart and hands behind The Veiled Curio. My journey into the world of jewellery design wasn't a sudden spark, but a flame kindled early on, deep in my family's heritage. I grew up exploring my grandmother's attic, a place filled with forgotten objects. Among the dust, her jewellery box was a singular sanctuary. Each vintage brooch and tarnished chain told a silent, evocative story of past eras, and I became an intuitive archivist, fascinated not just by the beauty of the pieces, but by the memories they held.
This early reverence led me to formal studies in art history, specialising in antique and symbolic adornments. I was drawn to jewellery that served as more than just decoration—pieces that functioned as talismans, keepers of secrets, or visual storytellers. After years of working in traditional curatorial roles, I realized I wanted to do more than preserve history; I wanted to create new chapters. I wanted to design modern pieces that carried that same weight of mystery and significance.
That’s how The Veiled Curio was born. The name is a direct reflection of my philosophy: every object holds a potential story, a curious history that is often "veiled" from a casual glance. My designs, much like the layered necklaces and curated textures you see here, are modern interpretations of classical and natural motifs. I source ethically, incorporate vintage components when possible, and prioritize craftsmanship to create adornments that feel personal and discovered, not just made.
Choosing Etsy as the home for my shop was intentional. It allowed me to connect directly with individuals who appreciate small-scale artisan work and unique, curated collections. For me, "The Veiled Curio" isn't simply about selling jewellery; it’s about providing a conversation starter, a modern talisman, and a piece that, over time, will gather its own stories. I invite you to explore, and I hope you find a piece that speaks quietly, but profoundly, to you.
