5 out of 5 starsI LOVE the Carnelian and Peridot Wisteria art piece Janis so "craftily recycled"! I have it displayed in my living room and wish I knew how to upload a picture of it. COVID sure delayed the transport, but it was worth the wait & the seller was so kind and thoughtful in her communication with me. Bless you, Janis!

This is me so far...
I started making trees of life from recycled items as mental health therapy. I'd had a very long, serious period of depression and didn't feel I was useful for anything. Then, on a whim in late 2019, I decided to give beading/ wire weaving a go. I'd always avoided this craft, as I knew I'd get addicted. And, yup, I did! 😊
I'm happier now, well on the road to recovery. I love making my pieces as they make me feel better. The fact other people love my pieces too has been a happy bonus. I've sold them all over the world, in charity auctions, exchanged them for more broken/ reclaimed jewellery, given them as gifts, and made them on commission for special events.
I've just taken part in my first market, and had a blast. So many compliments and happy customers.
Now I'm known as"that beading lady" I am sent/ given more and more beads and reclaimed jewellery all the time. To the point I'm now going to start selling my excess beads and "too good to be destroyed" vintage pieces here.
I also make rag rugs from my family's old clothes that are too dead to donate. I've made rugs, table runners, cushions. All woven or knitted. One day I hope to move into rag rug yoga mats as they feel so nice on your bare feet.
So here I am, I'm a craftily recycled lover who wants to make old things into new things, and cut down on exactly how many useful items we throw into landfill.
Will you help me by buying my wares?

Frequently asked questions
What are my pieces made from?
I do my absolute best to source all my materials 2nd hand. Either through charity op shops (so I'm also supporting charities), or from local 2nd hand dealers, to support my fellow local small businesses.
I use old jewellery, beads, cages, rocks, shells and more. All bought 2nd hand where I can. I never take rocks, shells, etc from the environment. I simply use ones sold on through charity op shops.
Custom and personalised orders
Yes I do custom and commissioned pieces. Just contact me here with your ideas and requests and I will get back to you. Please give me as much time as possible to create your custom pieces, as sourcing my raw materials 2nd hand can be hit and miss. I might not have the right stock on hand, or be able to find it 2nd hand.
With jewellery and hair pieces, please give me at least a month to create, to ensure you get exactly the right piece.
Gift wrapping and packaging
All items purchased online come in a gift bag (if they fit), then wrapped in tissue paper before packaged as safely as I can.
The gift bags are also made from recycled materials if Possible, or are themselves 2nd hand.
My beads come in recycled containers too. Tins, plastic containers, plastic baggies, etc.
And all bubblewrap and packaging is also re-used and recycled from parcels I have received.
ALL pieces, beads, bags, containers and packaging are hygenically cleaned or washed before re-use wherever possible.
Wholesale availability
If you're a local Adelaide Hills, or Adelaide Metro, small business let's chat wholesale.
Or, if you sell items I use, perhaps we can talk trade?
How do I decide on prices?
My basic calculations on a pieces price is the cost of the materials used, plus an hourly rate for how long it takes me to make it.
As I really want my pieces to be as affordable as possible, while still ensuring I earn a little for myself, my hourly rates depend on the size and how intricate the work is.
Just because my raw materials are 2nd hand, doesn't always mean they cost very little. 😊
Do I use brand new, unused items as raw materials?
Occasionally I do. But I will always clearly state this in their item description.
Sometimes items I buy from charity op shops are clearly in their original packaging so never used. I do classify these as 2nd hand, due to where I bought them.
What are beads and things made from?
As I buy mostly 2nd hand, saying the age, origin, or the matetial items are made from can be a guess.
My guesses are based on my experience as a life long avid collector and explorer of 2nd hand shops. And from my love of TV show, books, and websites of such topics. 😊
I can never be 100% certain on every item. So when in doubt I will state what I think it is, but that it is a guess.
I will never try to "alchemy upsell". Meaning I won't try and sell you lead at gold prices.
In fact, I do my best to never sell lead or other dangerous or toxic items. If I'm ever in doubt, I don't list it.
If you see something you believe I've incorrectly described, please contact me politely. We all make mistakes.
Shipping rates.
I'm still trying to ensure I use the lowest, correct shipping rates. If you ever feel my rates are too high, please contact me before you buy so I can give you an accurate quote.
Please realise that the size and weight of an item, or your location, can make shipping pricey.
If you want to buy multiple items from my shop, I do combine postage. Just send me a message requesting a quote.
The shipping prices listed are per size and a max weight decided by Australia post. If multiple items equal that set size and weight, you only need to pay that price for it all.
Do I combine shipping on multiple item purchases.
Yes I do, but currently that is something I need to do manually, as I've not set up "combined postage" on all items. So if you're interested in buying multiple items, please contact me first so I can get you an accurate quote on shipping.
