I discovered firing ceramics in tins 10 years ago and was hooked!

All my ceramics are slip cast and then decorated with leaves, feathers and other botanical findings. They are then put in tins with sawdust, the tin is sealed and put in the kiln. As the sawdust slowly burns the smoke winds arounds the pieces it soaks in the surface of the pieces creating moody patterns of black, grey with shots of silver and other colours. The leaves on the surface act as a resist and in many pieces you can clearly see their outline.

I work in large, shared space studio in the inner west of Sydney. Here I create contemporary heirlooms which can be used on a daily basis. They are the pieces that you will want to pass on to your children or other special people in your life.

In having one of my pieces in your home you can be confident that you possess a truly unique Australian handcrafted piece which will continue to give you pleasure.
