About GeorgiesDesignLab
-
Early prototypes help me test the shape, tension, and overall feel before refining the details. -
Then it's time for pattern refining— getting the stitch counts right often takes more math than I thought. ;) -
I compare the concept graphic to the prototype to make sure I bring the character’s personality to life. -
After testing and polishing, the final design is ready to share with you. Thanks for visiting the Lab! -
Where it begins — a cozy (messy) little lab full of yarn experiments, sketches, and half-formed ideas.

Georgiana Pierre-Louis
Owner, Maker, Designer
I’m a former chemist who (re)started crocheting on a whim (with a Wooble my kids had abandoned) and just kept going. I got hooked on making real things with my hands, and now I get to pass a bit of that handmade delight on to others.

Frequently asked questions
Q: Are your plushies made from upcycled yarn?
A: Whenever possible, yes! Many plushies begin as thrifted sweaters that I unravel, wash, and transform into soft amigurumi. It’s really cathartic to unravel a sweater, and a sweater can make many, many plushies. I love that it keeps clothing (or old unwanted yarn) out of landfills too. I do, at times buy yarn new, if I need a specific color or weight that I don't already have or can't find second-hand.
Q: What’s included in your crochet patterns?
A: Each pattern includes step-by-step instructions, clear photos for the trickier parts, a materials list, stitch notes, tips, and a page for your own notes. They’re written with beginners in mind — straightforward, friendly, and not too fussy.
Q: Can I sell items made from your patterns?
A: Absolutely — in small handmade batches. Please credit “Georgie’s Design Lab” as the designer. The PDF itself can’t be shared, resold, or distributed.
Q: Do you take custom plushie orders?
A: My Made-to-Order Plushies are all able to be customized to a degree. If you have something else in mind, message me and I’ll let you know whether I can take it on.
Q: When will my made-to-order plush ship?
A: Most made-to-order plushies take 1–2 weeks, depending on size, complexity, and my project queue. Ready-to-ship items go out in 1–3 business days.
Q: Do you offer digital downloads?
A: Yes! Crochet patterns and printables like gift tags are instant downloads — no shipping required. Etsy will email you a link as soon as your purchase is complete. You must be logged in to Etsy on a web browser to download your purchase.
Q: What if I’m a beginner?
A: Most of my patterns are beginner-friendly and my plushies often use simple shapes and stitches. Many customers start with one of my “no-sew or minimal-sew” designs. I recommend that you read the Pattern Information in my listing images to make sure you're familiar with the stitches used before buying.
