About

Utility, longevity, beauty, simplicity.

Laikonik is all about clever sustainable design paired with beautiful thoughtful products. We use traditional methods of producing keepsake and memory based products which have meaning and purpose.

We believe that the best times in our lives shouldn't be stored away on computers or phones – they should be enjoyed, displayed and loved. Life is about creating stories, making memories and sharing moments with our loved ones.

Josephine Palmer, owner, designer, of Laikonik products, mother or 2 boys, studied Fine Art and graphic design. Laikonik was born out of wanting to create a tactile, sustainable and beautifully made Baby Journal for our children. Kasia Jaquot and myself designed the keepsake book to be admired, treasured and handed down from generation to generation. Most importantly we wanted to tell the story of our child from birth to 18 years, in 2005 the Once A Year Book was created and has been lovingly refined over the years to win Best Australian made product in 2016. (lifeinstyle tradefair).

We are serious about sustainability and quality but don’t take ourselves too seriously. Behind every baby keepsake book, every design, is an artistic impulse and a little bit of our hearts.

Our signature product is our Once-A-Year Baby Journal. Every mother wants to capture the milestone moments of their child’s life, to be remembered for a lifetime – this is what drives the sale of Baby Journals worldwide. We know, however, that another poorly designed product that places another list of expectations and unmet deadlines on a busy 21st Century working mother is not the product to be promoted. I want to produce and promote a product that is instantly recognisable and understandable to the consumer, that is a first port of call for any expecting mum or baby shower guest, and that promotes quality, longevity and beauty in the lives of busy working mothers, such as myself.
The concept is simple: once a year, choose a photo, once a year record the moments, and after 18 years you have before you a beautiful narrative of your child’s life (and you don’t feel like such crap-tacular mum after all!)
Our materials are principally, industrial hemp, flax linen, organic cottons, reprocessed papers.
Our consumers are people who appreciate beautifully designed raw natural products.
Awards we have received - ECO Awards for Excellence in home decor, ETSY Design awards finalist in Paper Art Goods 2015. Best Australian Made produce 2016 at Life instyle (boutique tradefair) Eco Awards for excellence 2017 in Baby books.
