El bicho raro creativo detrás de Mere Creates es la diseñadora gráfica Meredith Anne, o Mere, como la llaman sus amigos y familiares. Mere comenzó su viaje en el arte cuando era niña, desarrollando realmente sus habilidades en la escuela media y secundaria. Cuando llegó el momento de ir a la universidad, Mere tenía grandes sueños de vivir nada menos que en... ¡Nueva York! Asistió a Parsons durante su primer año y le encantaba vivir en la ciudad, pero le resultaba difícil hacer amigos y extrañaba mucho su hogar. En 2011, Mere se transfirió a la Universidad de Delaware, donde continuó estudiando diseño gráfico y ¡le encantó estar en casa nuevamente! ¡En el verano de 2013 pudo estudiar en el extranjero durante 5 semanas en Londres! Durante este tiempo visitó toneladas de agencias de diseño y el viaje fue muy inspirador.
¡En 2014, Mere se graduó de la UD con su BFA en Comunicaciones Visuales! Poco después, empezó a trabajar en una oficina de producción de revistas, diseñando anuncios legales. Si bien era un muy buen trabajo que no le importaba hacer, sentía que no podía ser tan creativa como quería... las firmas de abogados realmente no quieren sirenas y unicornios coloridos en sus anuncios después de todo...
En un esfuerzo por volver a aprovechar su creatividad, en 2017, Mere comenzó a incursionar en el arte digital a través de su iPad Pro y Apple Pencil. Pronto encontró una gran pasión por la ilustración digital y comenzó a crear escenas artísticas para autores en una aplicación de historias interactiva llamada Episodio. Consiguió una base de fans considerable a través de la comunidad en línea en Instagram, pero quería comenzar a expandirse desde la comunidad de Episodio.
Pronto encontró una plataforma que le permitía subir sus obras de arte a una variedad de productos y venderlos. Hizo algunas ventas utilizando esta plataforma, pero no estaba contenta con lo caro que les costaban los productos a sus clientes y quería encontrar una manera de fabricar productos más baratos.
¡Etsy conoce a Mere!
Mere siempre ha sido hábil y tiene una habilidad especial para saber cómo hacer cosas desde cero, ¡y por eso decidió pasarse a ser vendedora de Etsy! Invirtió en una máquina Cricut y ya tenía una buena impresora de su época universitaria. Con su iPad en mano, comenzó a crear furiosamente ilustraciones para varios productos: pegatinas, marcapáginas, cuadernos de dibujo y mucho más.
Mere es una gran fanática de los colores brillantes, las ilustraciones estilo acuarela y tinta y el arte de estilo vectorial, pero también es fanática de los estilos oscuro/punk/gótico. ¡Es posible que veas una combinación de ambos en la tienda!
The creative weirdo behind Mere Creates is graphic designer Meredith Anne - or Mere as her friends and family call her. Mere began her journey in in art as a child, really developing her skill in middle school and high school. When it came time for college, Mere had big dreams of living in none other than... New York City! She attended Parsons for her freshman year, and she loved living in the city, but she found it hard to make friends and missed her home a lot. In 2011, Mere transferred to the University of Delaware where she continued to study graphic design and she loved being home again! In the summer of 2013 she got to study abroad for 5 weeks in London! During this time she got to visit tons of design agencies and the trip was so inspiring.
In 2014, Mere graduated from UD with her BFA in Visual Communications! Not long after, she began working for a magazine production office, designing legal ads. While it was a very good job that she didn't mind doing, she felt like she couldn't be as creative as she wanted...law firms don't really want colorful mermaids and unicorns in their ads after all...
In an effort to tap back into her creativity, in 2017 Mere began to dabble in digital art via her iPad Pro and Apple Pencil. Soon she found a huge passion for digital illustration and she began making art scenes for authors on an interactive story app called Episode. She grew a sizable fanbase through the online community on Instagram but she wanted to begin branching out from the Episode community.
Soon she found a platform that allowed her to upload her artwork onto a variety of products and sell them. She made a few sales using this platform but she wasn't happy with how expensive the products cost her customers and she wanted to find a way to make cheaper products.
Etsy meet Mere!
Mere has always been handy and has a knack for knowing how to make things from scratch, and so she decided to make the switch to being an Etsy seller! She invested in a Cricut machine and she already owned a good printer from her college days. With her iPad in hand, she began furiously creating illustrations for various products - stickers, bookmarks, sketchbooks, and more!
Mere is a big fan of bright colors, watercolor and ink style illustrations and vector style art, but she is also a fan of dark/punk/goth styles. You may see a mix of both in the shop!
