Hi Everyone,

Thanks for visiting :-)
David and myself(Michael) are located on the Gold Coast in Australia, we create low volume Opal jewellery as a hobby during our spare time which relieves the stress from our everyday work in the IT Industry.

We fell in love with our precious national gem, one of nature's most beautiful creations, the Australian Opal !.

We take the Opals from their original state out of the ground (Roughs) and work towards the final product through precision cutting, shaping and polishing. By personal choice we only produce Solid opals and sometimes make our own AAA grade Doublets. We do not cut, produce nor sell low grade Doublets, Triplets or lab opals.

We then most often carefully set the opal on cast 925 silver settings that we precisely fine tune, custom shape when required and finish/polish.
We also make our 100% hand fabricated solid sterling silver custom settings which we are very proud of, we are slowly mastering the technics and creating more artistic and complex designs. Solid Gold settings will be our next step.

REAL Solid Australian Opals are nowadays, very rare precious gems, wearing one can come at a very high cost depending on the type of opal. Some solid black Australian opals cost more per carat than Diamond. A dull solid white opal is worth 10 times more than a very colourful triplet .Boulder opals are still mined in quantity and are still the most affordable, but prices are on the rise.
The jewellery market is flooded with cheaper alternatives such as Triplets, low grade Doublets, Lab Opals etc.. , very colourful, appealing and perfectly fine as long as you know what you are buying but too often miss leading people into thinking it is the real deal.
When buying our items you can be 100% sure that you are getting a REAL Australian Opal, a piece that we have handled and been involved with every step of the process, from the rough stone out of the ground to the finish item.

We only make very small profit which is re-invested to keep our hobby going and maybe, just maybe , make a living out of it in the future :-)

Meanwhile, enjoy a high quality authentic Australian Opal at a bargain price.

Thank you for you support.
Michael - Dave

Frequently asked questions
What is a solid opals?

It is the real, genuine & natural precious Opal. Solid opals are rare precious stones, their price is directly related to the type, weight in carat & color play . Wearing Solid Opals can come at a very high price. Although White & Boulder opals are still affordable, the Australian Solid Black Opal has become very rare and can cost more than Diamond per carat!.

What is a Doublet?

A doublet consists of 2 layers.
A thin slice of Solid Opal is glued to a backing, usually made of black hard plastic, brown ironstone. Doublets are designed to either use a piece of opal which would otherwise be too thin to be mounted or to imitate the appearance of a solid black opal (the rarest and most expensive types of Australian Opals).

Although Doublets are not considered as precious stones, they still contains a thin top layer of real solid opal, colourful and as attractive as a real solid black opal.
Doublet are a cheaper and popular alternative to Solid Black Opals.

What is a Triplet ?

A triplet consists of 3 layers.
A clear glass, quartz, or plastic capping in the shape of a dome at the top. A paper-thin slice of opal in the middle and a black backing, usually hard plastic, black opal potch or iron stone.

Triplets are usually as colourful as doublets or solid black opals but have a 'glassy' appearance and can be easily identified. The light reflects differently on the top than it would on a solid opal or doublet.

Triplets are a cheaper alternative to Doublets as they contain very little precious opal, magnified by the artificial clear cap.
