'Twas ten days before Christmas, in a panic as to what to get my mum after another gift had fallen through, I messaged Sarah to see if she could perform a Christmas Miracle - and she delivered a stunning artwork (including our furry family members)! I was blown away by her work and so was my mum, crying at how beautiful this piece is. It now has pride of placement in our house x

I am Sarajoy, a Graphic Designer, Illustrator, Mum, Wife, Cancer Fighter.

My story goes a little something like this...

I worked as a fashion designer for many years, for some amazing brands, before starting my own business doing wedding invitations and stationery. I absolutely loved it! But then I had a baby and I got breast cancer, so I decided to stop working so I could focus on my health and family.

I enjoyed the break at first, but then I started to miss the creative outlet. While spending hours and hours in hospital waiting rooms, I began doing little drawings of my family and friends. It started as a bit of fun, to pass the time, but everyone really loved them and started asking for more. After a while, it had just taken off! So here I am, doing illustrations for a living. How lucky am I?!

I’m a total family girl and I’m happiest spending time with my boys. I also still have ongoing treatment, with the hope of being cancer free in 2018 (Fingers crossed). I love drawing in between chemo session and midday naps. I still get so excited by every single order, so you can be sure your illustration is created with love and your support is hugely appreciated by our little family.

Additional policies and FAQs

What kind of photo's should I send?
A clear full length photo is best. If you need to send a few to show me everyone, or you want a specific outfit or something included, that's ok too. Don't worry too much, I can improvise whatever I can't see and I'll let you know if I have any questions or need anything more.

Can I also include my pet?
Yes of course! Pets are part of the family too. They are considered 'characters', so just count them the same as a person. If you have a family of 4 + 2 pets, that would be an illustration of 6.

How will I receive my files?
I'll upload custom illustrations to my drop box when they've been completed. You'll receive an email from drop box with a link so you can access and download them. They are usually too big to email, so this is really the best way. They'll be high quality and ready to print.

What kind of file will I receive?
I'll send you a high-quality print ready jpeg file. There will be 2 files, you will need to check with your printer which format they use as different printers require different file types. The RGB one will be for any photo printing place (like Kmart or Harvey Norman) and is scaled to the usual photo sizes i.e. 20x30cm. The CMYK one will be for printing places like Office Works or Quik Copy, it is scaled to usual paper sizes i.e. A4. They are clearly labelled, so you'll know which is which. All printers will know which file type they require, so if you’re not sure, just ask them (or me).

Can I make changes once I receive my file?
If something is not quite right, I can make small changes for you, such as the background / skin / hair colour or the position of the names / wording. Unfortunately, I can't draw the illustration again in the price you've paid. If you really want a big change, please get in touch and we can discuss a reasonable fee that we are both happy with.

Where is the best place to get it printed?
Image Science do beautiful prints at a more premium price. If you'd like to order here, let me know and I can set up the file directly with them, ready for you to finalise. Or you can print at any local printer. Office works for example do a great job. Or photo printing places like Kmart and Harvey Norman can also do it.

How big can I print it?
I draw in A4 size, I think this size works best, but of course you can make it as big or small as you like. To make smaller, you can just scale when you are printing. If you want it bigger than A3, please let me know and I'll send you a bigger file so you don't lose any of the quality.

Where can I buy a frame from?
Ikea and Kmart have a great range of very affordable simple frames. It's usually best to pick the frame first and then print the image to fit. If you'd like a different format such as square, please let me know and I will happily make a new file for you.

Can I get my illustration in a square or landscape format?
Yes, of course. Please let me know when placing the order and I will make sure it fits which ever orientation you prefer.

Can I use my illustration to make cards or stationery?
Yes of course!! Once you receive the file it is yours to use however you please. They make great thank you cards for weddings, or family Christmas cards. I'd be very happy to make them up into cards for you if you like and I can arrange printing too. Please get in touch if you'd like to discuss this.

Will you post a photo of my illustration on social media?
I love sharing my illustrations on Instagram, so if you want to save the illustration for a present and don't want me to ruin the surprise, please let me know and I'll change/remove the names before posting it.
