Siempre nos ha gustado ir a la sauna, especialmente después de un entrenamiento intenso o un largo día de trabajo. Para mí, era algo más que una simple relajación: solía meditar en la sauna del gimnasio de mi barrio durante unos 20 minutos. Sin embargo, había un problema que siempre me molestaba: la sequedad de mi cuero cabelludo. Aunque mi cuero cabelludo sudaba, mi pelo se resecaba, se encrespaba y se volvía quebradizo. Intenté envolverme la cabeza con toallas o telas para protegerme el pelo y fue entonces cuando noté algo interesante. Cuando mi pelo estaba protegido del calor, se sentía más suave y saludable después. Mi cuero cabelludo sudaba con mayor eficacia y mi pelo quedaba suave y flexible. ¡Ahí fue cuando se me ocurrió la idea!
Empecé a buscar soluciones en el mercado, pero lo único que pude encontrar fueron sombreros que aún expusieran el cabello al calor. Basándome en años de experiencia en ciencia de materiales y en la comprensión de los efectos del calor y el aislamiento, decidí crear algo mejor. Así nació SaunaCaps. Pasé tiempo probando diferentes materiales con amigos, personas que van al gimnasio y otras personas de mi círculo para asegurarme de que fuera eficaz, seguro (no alergénico), fácil de limpiar y, lo más importante, capaz de mantener el calor alejado del cabello.
Desde que lanzamos el producto hace unos cinco años, hemos enviado decenas de miles de SaunaCaps a personas de todo el mundo. ¡Ha sido increíble ver cómo personas comunes como yo ahora pueden disfrutar plenamente de sus sesiones de sauna sin comprometer la salud de su cabello!
We’ve always loved using the sauna, especially after a tough workout or a long day at work. For me, it became more than just relaxation—I would often meditate in the sauna at my local gym for about 20 minutes. However, one issue always bothered me: the dryness of my scalp. While my scalp would sweat, my hair would become dry, frizzy, and brittle. I tried wrapping towels or cloth around my head to protect my hair, and that’s when I noticed something interesting. When my hair was shielded from the heat, it felt softer and healthier afterward. My scalp would sweat more effectively, and my hair was left feeling smooth and supple. That’s when the idea struck me!
I started looking for solutions on the market, but all I could find were hats that still exposed hair to heat. Drawing on years of experience in materials science and understanding the effects of heat and insulation, I decided to create something better. That’s how SaunaCaps was born. I spent time testing different materials with friends, gym-goers, and others in my circle to ensure it was effective, safe (non-allergenic), easy to clean, and—most importantly—capable of keeping heat away from the hair.
Since launching about five years ago, we’ve shipped tens of thousands of SaunaCaps to people all over the world. It’s been amazing to see how regular folks like me can now fully enjoy their sauna sessions without compromising their hair health!
