Announcement   I'm a long time and enthusiastic second-hand shopper and collector, and much prefer to own things owned before. Every piece carries with it a little of each person who owned it, and I can often feel their presence still with it. I go shopping with my senses on high alert - things have a way of calling me! Whenever something second-hand comes into my possession, whether I decide to keep it or pass it on to another, I always imbue it with love and positive intention, so the next person who owns it will be blessed and enjoy owning it. And I never throw these carefully collected things away! What is not donated back to charity is passed on, or transformed and given new life. Sister Jo Bangles is my way of giving these beautiful little pieces of ephemera I find all over the place back to the world, keeping them out of landfill and from becoming waste. Upcycling is the future. And every one of my pieces is blessed, and created in a home filled with love, light and creative energy. I'm so excited to bring my art to you on Etsy. Namaste!

This is so stunning. It blew me away when I received it. The quality and the creativeness of this piece will make it one of my most loved pieces of jewellery. I love it so much. Thank you Jo. Xx

About

Taking broken and thrown away things, and making them whole and new again.

I'm a long time and enthusiastic second-hand shopper and collector, and much prefer to own things owned before. Every piece carries with it a little of each person who owned it, and I can often feel their presence still with it.

I go out gathering with my senses on high alert - things have a way of calling me!

I also love gifts from the earth - shells, gemstones, feathers, driftwood - and I use these in my pieces also.

Sister Jo Bangles is my way of giving the many beautifulpieces of ephemera I find all over the place back to the world, slowing down the fashion cycle and keeping them out of landfill and from becoming waste. Upcycling is the future. And every one of my pieces is blessed, and created in a home filled with love, light and creative energy.

I am also a published author, artists and creative coach, with a Stevie Nicks fixation, dreadlocks, and not nearly enough tattoos.

Thanks for visiting my Etsy store! Namaste.

Frequently asked questions

You state your pieces are upcycled. Where do you source the jewellery components?

I constantly scour markets and op shops, and rely on my community of friends, upcyclers and resellers to provide me with my bits and pieces. I especially watch out for bags and jars of broken jewellry and items deemed unsuitable for sale, which would otherwise be thrown out and end up in landfill. I love purchasing from local op shops and markets as I know my money stays local, and helps support families and enterprise in my area and community.

Once I bring items home, they are carefully disassembled and cleaned/polished. Chains and cords are also salvaged if possible and restored: waxed or polished. Then, I use new wire to remake the elements I've collected into new pieces, then photograph them and list them for sale 😀

Gift wrapping and packaging

My pieces come wrapped in recycled tissue (I often use vintage tissue paper dress patterns) and enveloped in a hand-made recycled paper pocket, tied at the top with twine attached to a recycled card tag stamped with "Made with love by Sister Jo Bangles".

What are your return and exchange conditions?

I am happy to discuss any issues you may have with your piece, so please examine yours early after delivery to make sure it arrived safe and sound. My policy states I prefer to be contacted within 3 days of your delivery, and a damaged item needs to be returned within 14 days.

Your piece is made from recycled, found, second-hand and reclaimed components and will have imperfections such as rubbing, tarnishing, scratches, marks, wear and patina caused by age and use. These are considered part of the beauty of the piece and are not considered damage.

Damage is defined as breakage due to workmanship or components coming loose or detaching. In this instance, I will happily repair your item once returned to me at my expense, by arrangement.
