Announcement   A big THANK YOU to everyone who has purchased a piece of The Rebel Rabbit either on Etsy or at the various markets I attended in 2017! Your support means the world to me!
My Etsy page is looking very bare at the moment as all my stock (except Baxter Brooches) is sitting in the lovely Artisan Collective Pop Up Shop in Nelson Bay, NSW Australia.
After I've had a little break I'll slowly be updating Etsy with some new pieces.

Couldn’t be happier with this purchase, the brooch is beautifully made and arrived carefully wrapped and presented. Sam has also been an excellent seller to deal with. Highly recommend this shop! :)

About

A Handmade Adventure

Hello!
I’m a 30 year old 'quirky' girl who lives in Newcastle, Australia with her lovely Husband and adorable but very cheeky bunny – Baxter Fudge (the inspiration behind – The Rebel Rabbit).

Ever since I can remember I’ve always been a crafty person. I was always working on creative projects with my Nanna, Mum and Dad when I was little.

During my late teens/early twenties I got all ‘grown up’ and sensible. This involved the completion of a Bachelor of Science degree where I graduated to become a geologist. I met a boy, did a bit of travelling and bought a house.

Since starting my professional career as a ‘geo’ I somehow got myself into the mindset that being in a scientific profession meant that I could never be my creative self again – the days of high school art were over! The poor 'right side' of my brain had almost shriveled up and forgotten what craft glue smelt like!

It was the passing of my Nanna (who could do ANYTHING from furniture making to crochet and everything in between!) in 2012 that was the kick in the guts that life is far too short to not be doing what you love! So I decided to ‘have a go’ and I began my journey to re-learn the crafty skills I seemed to have forgotten.

The next step in this little mission of mine was to start The Rebel Rabbit. This began in 2013 as a blog. I was fed up with sitting on the sidelines admiring all these creative and crafty peeps out there living their dreams. I wanted to share with the world the fun and creative side of my life and connect with like-minded people. I wanted to find my ‘tribe’!

The blog and continual learning of crafty skills helped me find that ‘tribe’ and allowed me to build my confidence to start my own Etsy shop and register my business name!

The next step in this plan was to study a Cert IV Colour & Design at The Hunter Design School. At the end of 2016 I completed my Cert IV and managed to receive a certificate for 'Outstanding Excellence'! I learnt lots and managed to design a range of jewellery and market stall for 'The Rebel Rabbit' as my major project based on my studies of the 1980's Memphis Movement!

I have always dreamed of selling things and I LOVE the handmade community! The connection you make with people that ‘get’ what you’re about and love what you do is what it's all about! That feeling of excitement knowing you’re purchasing something handcrafted and unique and supporting an independent artisan is what I hope to recreate in my buyers. I hope to one day wholesale to some of my favourite independent shops!

While it’s a challenge managing full time work and being creative I’m loving every minute of it and slowly creating my ideal lifestyle!

Thanks for supporting me on my little adventure to rediscover my creativity. I think Nan would be proud!
I hope you enjoy The Rebel Rabbit!

Sam :)
