Purchased the bleached thread to test in a specific application: as wicks lamps burning olive oil. Linen reputedly has better properties for wicking than cotton; and in this application, the thread worked extremely well — producing a pleasing flame with much less carbonation at the tips. Extremely strong and durable fibre; as described and as expected. Very fast dispatch and delivery. Will definitely order more.

Welcome to the Tudor Tailor Etsy shop! Here you'll find items previously used at Hampton Court Palace and elsewhere, as well as everything you need to make your own Tudor era costumes. In some instances, we may be willing to sell a for-hire costume you'll find listed there, so if something strikes your fancy feel free to be in touch!

Payment

We accept PayPal payments. Payment must be completed within 3 days of initial purchase. We retain the right to cancel any order at our discretion.

Delivery

Please allow 3 working days for orders to be processed and despatched.

In general, once your order has been despatched Royal Mail and/or ParcelForce aim for it to arrive within 3-5 working days for the UK and within 10 working days for the rest of the world - however, we can't guarantee a delivery time for international destinations since packages will have to clear Customs. If you need quicker delivery, please contact us to discuss options.

The vast majority of items in our shop are posted via Royal Mail or ParcelForce, depending upon the size and weight of the package. We use the least expensive shipping option available, which generally means that items are not trackable or insured. Please contact us if you would prefer we use a different shipping method for your order.

Previously worn costumes are also be sent via courier, are trackable, and shipping prices quoted include insurance up to the value of the costume you're buying.

International customers, please note that there may be additional taxes and duties due when your order arrives, but we have no way of estimating what these may be. You will be responsible for paying these.

Additional policies and FAQs

Please note, our previously worn costumes are also very occasionally for sale in one or two other forums, such as the International Living History Fair in Bruntingthorpe, England. We endeavour to keep the shop up to date, but please understand that in very rare instances the costume you're interested in may have simultaneously been sold! In that case, we would of course contact you as soon as possible to let you know.
