The Birth of Trendy Setters
Trendy Setters was born from my love of animals, creativity and sewing machines, with the name itself from my passion for the Setter breed! Having worked since 2008 as a busy full time Veterinary nurse I dreamt of starting a business crafting beautiful collars but never had the time, or the sewing machine, to pursue it! After a year of unexpected poor health, and almost a month in hospital (shortly followed by a diagnosis of a rare autoimmune disease), I decided life is too short not to follow your dreams. I began by borrowing my Mum’s old sewing machine and teaching myself to sew. My 2 Irish Red & White Setters and 2 rescue English Setters provided excellent testers for developing my products.
During the hunt for my perfect ‘workhorse,’ my passion for rescuing and restoring sewing machines also begun! I now have far more sewing machines than I’d like to admit but the thrill of producing a work of art on a 1928 Singer 66k is amazing! All the products in my shop are sewn on vintage machines, mainly ‘Bridgette’ the 66k and her companions ‘Bertha’ a Singer 15k and ‘Betty’ a 201k; they really were designed to cope with the thickness of fabric involved!
A special thanks to my boyfriend for his encouragement, support and technical/mechanical expertise to get me to where I am today!
