I’ve been designing as long as I can remember. I come from a creative family of musicians, sewers, artists and inventors, so I think I was destined to follow a creative path. I started creating pieces for family and friends in my early 20’s. I had made my grandmother a blue button up blouse from the softest georgette; her reaction reaffirmed my desire to keep creating and sharing my work. Design is my passion and I want to share that passion with everyone else. I get a great pleasure from seeing my pieces on the street, knowing that I’ve had an impact in some small way in helping someone express themselves through fashion.
After my fashion studies I worked for a local label for almost a decade immersing myself in learning and evolving until I realised that I needed more. I needed to share not only my stories, but the stories of others to the world. My label was the way to do this. My husband is an illustrator and designed a print for our wedding which we had screen printed onto the back of my dress. It had both of our family names incorporated in the image and when we saw our names together, it was clear to us that this was the beginning of the next chapter. VELLA CAMPBELL was born.

My husband and I form the core of our brand. I design, draft patterns and sew, while Shaun creates the artwork and graphics, and handles filming and video editing. Together we conceptualise the collections; each tells its own story. Our current range is entitled The Fox Hunt Chapter and embodies the beauty, regality and splendour of an otherwise barbaric ritual in a chapter of our history.
We are blessed with a creative group of friends who help us with photography, sewing and editing. Our store is predominantly online with an integral and valued support system of clientele. We ship everywhere in Australia and internationally and are extremely excited about building up our following. Our fabrics are sourced locally and handmade in our studio ensuring optimal quality control to the highest of standards.
