Beautiful handmade pieces for your life!

Violets and Poppies was created by a mother daughter teacher duo, who carry a deep love for creating, experimenting and handmade goods! Our home has always centred around books, love and an art cupboard, filled with a huge variety of different art and craft supplies.

In the early days, Violets and Poppies began with Brenda (Mum) selling homemade soy wax candles to fundraise for a boy who was diagnosed with brain cancer. People loved them so much she continued making them at request and taking orders.

More recently, in 2014, I (Rhiannon) was diagnosed with Lupus and due to the effects of this autoimmune disease; painting was an outlet that was obtainable and therapeutic! Unable to work, these handmade and painted goodies are the prime element of Violets and Poppies. I also have been further diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and a few other health issues which means tests and doctor visits are a regular occurrence for me!

Today Violets and Poppies is run by me (Rhiannon), and I primarily focus on painting and designing colourful and joyful pieces. I love creating in all its forms, and this shop helps me channel my creativity. I love painting big canvas pieces and spending hours pouring over all the little details. If you are interested in a canvas artwork, do not hesitate to send me a message!

I hand paint wooden beads with bright colours and intricate designs, each one carefully thought out. I am inspired by anything from nature, to fabric, to the left over paint on my paper towel.

I also love hand lettering and designing paper goods, which inspire and create joy in the person who receives it. In my own experience a small gift, card or gesture from a loved one has the potential to lift your spirits and brighten your dark times. I am a firm believer of women encouraging and supporting each other no matter who they are! Love hard and be considerate to those having a tough time – you never know what someone is going through.

Additional policies and FAQs

Please avoid getting your wooden bead purchases wet! They have been sealed, however, a substantial amount of water on them is no good for wooden products. If beads become dirty, you can clean them by wiping with a lightly damp cloth. Do not pull or tug on your necklaces or key rings. They don’t really like that.
All wooden bead necklaces come in an organic cotton bag, which is the perfect home for your unique handcrafted goodies to stay safe and sound! They just love being snug as a bug in an organic cotton rug!
Please note that necklaces are designed for adult wear, not children.
If you have any incidents with items breaking, do no hesitate to contact us. Ensure you include the date it occurred, how it happened and a photograph of the item.

Bracelets are strung on a high quality elastic stretch cord. They do have a degree of stretch but do not pull them beyond what is necessary to put them on! They tend to get stressed and snap out of fear. I mean, we can all relate to being stretched too thin. All bracelets come at approximately 19cm diameter, but if you need a different size give us a buzz! We are more than happy to accommodate your arm candy requirements.

Treat with affection and give with love! We recommend you fill them up with messages which cause giggles, laughs and snorts.

Warning – choking hazard.
Because our products are composed of small parts, they are not for children under the age of 3. The use of our products with children should always be supervised by an adult. We cannot accept responsibility for the misuse of any of our products.

We do hope that you love your purchases and we aim to provide you with as much information as possible in our product descriptions and photographs. If you require more information than provided, please contact us before purchasing!
All of our products receive a lot of love and attention before going to the shop, in order to ensure they are of the highest quality before they travel to you.
We don’t accept change of mind returns, but if you feel you need to discuss a return, please contact us with a detailed description and photographs where applicable.
An item breaking from wear, tear and mistreatment is not cause for a return or refund. Please refer to our care instructions on how to best treat your handcrafted friends. Chains may tarnish over time, however, if you wish to replace it you can purchase a new chain - just send us an email. If you would like your key ring restrung, send us an email to arrange this. You will need to pay for return shipping.

Frequently asked questions
Custom and personalized orders

We are more than happy to accommodate custom orders and personalised products! Just send us an email to let us know what you are looking for.

We will require as much detail as possible in order to create something just right for you! Include what product you are after, the colours you would like, patterns, glitters, charms etc. If you have any inspiration pictures, pass those on too. We have pictures below to help you decide on some initial elements.

After our discussion I will provide a quote. Please keep in mind that each bead/artwork is individually painted and the more complex the design the higher the cost will be. Despite this, we still aim to provide the best price possible for you!

Wholesale availability

Yes - we do accept wholesale orders for all of our products! If you are business looking to represent or stock our product, contact us and we can discuss wholesale terms and conditions.

Gift wrapping and packaging

All orders come wrapped and packaged beautifully for you, because mail mostly sucks, so it’s nice to unwrap some sweet goodness before putting that bill far away from eyesight.

Necklaces arrive in a lovely hand stamped (by me!) organic cotton bags. All key rings and bracelets come in a small cello bag and are gift-wrapped. Cards and paper goods come in a clear cello back to protect their appearance. They are a little self conscious about that. Earrings come wrapped in some tissue paper and are posted in a box.

All other orders are sent in a rigid cardboard envelope, unless your order is super huge. Then we will use a satchel or box. Oh, and washi tape is most definitely used!
