Updates

The latest Wild Raven addition; an extra hydrating hand balm for hard working hands! Made with lusciously rich shea butter, nourishing jojoba oil and naturally antibacterial and antiseptic essential oils.
New soap fresh off the drying rack, that looks and smells good enough to eat! I'm a chocolate addict so this one is right up my ally. I don't use any synthetic fragrances in my soaps, but the array of rustic ingredients create a rich natural aroma.
ORANGE + POPPYSEED : I've been putting the harvest from our backyard orange trees to good use by adding them to my soap.  Vitamin C is great for the skin, both inside and out!

About

:: Herbal : Natural : Pure : Raw : Rustic : Artisan ::

Having grown up using traditional herbal body care remedies introduced to me by my mother, meant that it was only natural that I would eventually start making my own soaps and beauty products. I have been a nature lover since a very young age, and developed a holistic, down to earth outlook as I grew up. It is my belief that mother earth knows best and she provides us with everything that we need. There are a wealth of herbal options for natural health and beauty care that are safer, cleaner and most often more effective than the chemically infused concoctions created in modern commercial beauty labs.

My journey through home made soap began several years ago and my passion for it has grown ever since. I love the rustic handcrafted look and feel of home made soap and enjoy taking a simple everyday item to an artisan level. But even more so I love the apothecary element or creating herbal remedies with the potential to heal. I use all natural ingredients, many of them from my kitchen or garden, and source local and organic as much I can. Creating new products with therapeutic benefits is exciting and fun whilst sourcing only pure, natural and ethical ingredients is reassuring and gratifying. I keep my product designs simple by using ingredients as raw as possible. All of my products are free from synthetic fragrances with only a little essential oil, if any for a subtle scent and or some kitchen spices for colour and texture. My recipes focus instead on the healing benefits of traditional herbs.

: : PROCESS : :
My soaps are crafted in the traditional cold process method, which means my ingredients are combined at room temperature to minimise any nutrient loss caused by heating. As soap goes through it's natural saponification process it does heat up a little on it's own accord but I counteract this through cold storage either in my basement or fridge. Some soap makers use the hot process method which employs heat, usually in the form of a stove top, to cook the soap mixture until it hardens. This method is much quicker but can affect the quality of the final product as many herbs and nutrient rich oils and butters loose some of their healing properties at high temperatures. Cold process soap needs much longer to cure ( dry out and harden ) , usually between 6 and 10 weeks, but I think it's worth it.

: : INGREDIENTS : :
My products emphasize the use of all natural ingredients. This means that all my soaps and body care creations are free from nasties like artificial fragrances, colours and preservative, palm oil, parabens, mineral oils or sodium lauryl/laureth sulphate. I must note though that I do use sodium hydroxide, also known as caustic soda, for the lye in my soap making process. Lye is an essential element to soap making and there is no way to make soap without it. Lye is what converts the oils into soap. However, during the saponification process the lye is neutralized and by the end of the curing process there is actually no lye left in the soap.

: : PACKAGING : :
The natural and environmentally friendly style of my products extends to the packaging. I make my own business cards and product labels using recycled paper and gift wrap in reused brown paper and hemp twine. I also reuse boxes and packages for postage, make postage labels out of scrap paper and use biodegradable packing tape.

Shipping
: : AUSTRALIA : :
Postage and handling within Australia generally takes about a week. However, orders to regional areas and WA may need a little longer.

The typical turnaround time for orders is typically 1-3 days. High volume during peak seasons, ie Christmas and Mothers Day, may delay processing and postage times by a couple of days.

I post by Australia Post's regular shipping option which is generally very reliable but offers no deadline, guarantee, insurance or confirmation. I can however offer these at an additional cost. If you require any of these please contact me at the time of purchase and I will provide you with a custom price.

: : INTERNATIONAL : :
I generally do not offer orders outside of Australia due to the high international postage rates. However, I will consider special requests. The standard postage time for international orders is 7-21 days. Please be aware though that overseas shipments can be delayed by customs by up to 6 weeks, this does not occur often but that it can happen.

: : PACKAGING : :
I use reused and/or recycled packaging to ship all my products. This may include envelopes, padded bags, wrapping paper, bubble wrap or boxes, depending on your order. I also take extra care to make sure your package is snug, safe, secure and wrapped in a pretty way :)

:: PLEASE NOTE ::
To preserve the life span of handmade soap, it is recommended that they are kept as dry as possible between uses. Use a draining soap dish and keep it away from direct streams of water.

Please take the same precautions with this soap as you would with any other; avoid contact with eyes, do not ingest and in case of skin irritation, discontinue use.

My soap is made is made in small batches and is molded and cut by hand which means every bar is naturally unique so please beware that the bar you receive may look slightly different to those pictured.
