About akosmade

On Etsy since 2015

Akoscreative is about love for West African Inspired crafts, arts and culture. Live Bold with Statement jewellery and fashion accessories.

Akos: Is creative, curious and environment conscious. I create fashion accessories that honours diversity, innovation and authenticity.

My work is inspired by my West African heritage, its arts, culture and history.

I use sustainable design practices by ensuring minimal waste as possible in the way I design and create my jewellery and accessories. Off cuts and end bits of fabric often become a part of another creative item in my shop.

I am Ethical and Fair in my trading and dealing with other craft suppliers. For instance, I pay our local Ghanaian bead traders the amount they ask for. They must make a living and deserve every cent they price their wares.
The environment is the main creative source- waste and space is handled efficiently and respectfully.

An Active and Curios mind are the main drives that sets me apart from the other Crafters. I started as a Graphic Designer from Ghana, continued to engage in diverse Creative projects in Melbourne Australia, supported vulnerable communities doing Social Work and now Crafting happily in my Akos Studio.

If you like what I do, has a question or just want to say hello, then feel free to get in touch.

Have a Good One.

Who designs and creates your items.

I am the creative brain behind my handcrafted items.

Where are your items made.?

Akos Earring, bracelets, hair fascinators and other accessories are made here in Melbourne Australia by myself. I am the main designer and handcrafter of my shop.

I use jewellery findings purchased from other countries - the main ones being Krobo Beads that I personally handpicked from Ghana or had imported from Ghana.

For my African print dresses, they were handmade in collaboration and ethically with other seamstresses from Ghana.
I will soon start creating fashion outfits here in Melbourne - I will label and mark them to reflect where they re created.
