In all the houses we grew up in, my mom always proudly displayed a silhouette of her and my dad when they were first married. After I was born, she also proudly displayed a silhouette of me. The silhouettes seemed to capture our family as it grew larger and larger.

Seven years later my sister was born and that's when the tradition seemed to stop (I mean it was 1993, hand cut silhouettes weren't easy to come by. Internet shopping- no way!). Seventeen years later our family grew again when I married my high school sweet heart.

In 2011, I was looking to find the perfect Mother's day gift for my mom after an especially tough year. I wanted to remind her of all the family and support she had.

This is when I made my first set of silhouettes. I made one of each each us- Mom, Dad, my sister, my husband and myself. An updated and complete family tree that she could proudly display again.
