Handmade Goodness

My name is Therese Lyons. I am a Sydney based maker obsessed with colour, texture, fibre and creating beautiful pieces that make me and others happy.

I previously owned the business, Ena & Albert, which closed in 2017. Since then, I've been rediscovering what I love about making, trying new techniques and creating lots of beautiful things just for the sake of it. It's been bit of a treat after 6 years of business focused making (which I am so grateful for & proud of).

I've always been inspired by textiles - I even have a Bachelor's degree in Creative Arts with a focus on Textiles. I learnt about screen printing, digital printing, natural dying, knitting, basket weaving, shibori and so many amazing things from some amazing artists. I often wish I could go back and learn it all again.

I started weaving around 2011. I mostly taught myself with a few amazing workshops from weaving goddess Maryanne Moodie to sharpen my skills. I started with a little plastic loom from a craft shop in Singapore and then moved on a frame loom and a rigid heddle loom. I was then so lucky to be gifted a Saori WX60 in late 2017 as 10 year work anniversary gift.

The idea of making cloth with my hands is absolutely magical to me. I can choose the fibres, the colours, how much texture, the size, shape....and then I can turn it into anything I want. Being about to dye my own yarn colours adds another layer of fun to the process.

The pieces I am making for this store are made slowly, with lots of love and happiness in very small quantities - mostly one of a kinds.

You can find me on Instagram as @enaandalbert where I share all the colourful things I'm making, as well as behind the scenes videos in my stories.
