We work in all karat and color golds as well as palladium and platinum regularly. Please convo for details. Here's how our process works- first you decide on the style, metal and details of the ring that you want. We give you a quote. Once everything is confirmed, we make a listing for you to place your order. After your payment is received, we ship you a kit to make your fingerprints. You send the prints back to us, and we begin crafting for you!
We will be able to use your ink prints. If you can scan us a copy of the prints, we're happy to take a look at them and see what the results will look like. Did the funeral home take any prints? If so, we can craft from their prints. We will use a laser to engrave the prints on the ring or necklace. This creates a texture that you can feel.
Sorry, we do not work in stainless steel, tungsten, titanium, or cobalt.

Here at brent&jess we make each creation by hand using the ancient lost wax casting method. Our truly unique, patented process enables us to get REAL finger texture when making the wrapped fingerprint rings, not a representation or drawing of it--even your well-earned scars will show up! We are very proud that we do not enhance your print with computers. You will certainly see why all our customers are so thrilled to have their special someone's actual imprint with them at all times. Our great customer feedback speaks for itself. We use a more traditional fingerprint for the tip prints. Tips are made to scale your actual fingerprint not enlarged or altered.

At first I was unsure how the necklace would turn out, because I was using the prints of my grandparents and the lines seemed to be a little weak. But, the shop owners were super helpful and quick to respond on how to make the best jewelry. The necklace has a realistic texture and great details. This is a perfect and professional work of art. I love it!

The ring looks beautiful and Jess/Brent were very helpful in all our conversations leading up to purchase. The only downside is there seems to be a few small nicks in the gold plating, which is unfortunate for the price. I have yet to give it to my fiance but I know he'll love the fingerprint etching.

Brent&Jess is a microbusiness located on the beautiful, rocky coast of Maine. We know it can be a little scary to make an important purchase without being able to touch it or meet the people who will be crafting it, but we want you to know that we are REAL PEOPLE who take tremendous pride in not only the product that we craft, but the experience of purchasing it.
Brent and I have been making jewelry since 1995. We fell in love in the metalsmithing studio at the Maine College of Art. We have worked very hard to get where we are and love that we can support ourselves and our three children doing what we love. We are really proud of the brent&jess brand--to us excellent craftsmanship and customer care are the most important parts of our business.

Custom and personalized orders
While custom items may not be returned, we will work with you to figure out the problem and provide solutions. We will do returns or exchanges if you find there is defect in craftsmanship. You must return within 10 days of original sale for non custom work. If you need something repaired contact us and let's see what we can work out!
Care instructions
All metals scratch and dent. Any design or finish on the exterior of any ring is vulnerable to scratching and wear over any period of time, especially sterling silver. We cannot replace a ring because it has shown wear. Finishes on the exterior of rings with prints on the INSIDE can be refreshed with polishing or brushing. Keep in mind polishing is done by essentially removing material. Consider purchasing the fingerprint on the interior if you are concerned about the exterior wearing.
Care instructions
Your ring is a handmade, hand-sculpted, custom piece of art. All of the metals scratch and dent, and the first scratches hurt the most! Your ring will develop a character that is unique to you and the activities you engage in while wearing it.
To keep your ring looking as fresh as possible, take it off before any activity where you apply force by squeezing, as in opening a jar, or with a tool such as a hammer or wrench. Take your ring off before lifting weights or anything heavy, like furniture. Keep your ring away from lotions, and harsh soaps and shampoos.
Wearing yellow gold or white gold rings in chlorinated swimming pools and hot tubs should be avoided: Chlorine can discolor the metal and perhaps even damage it. Other chemicals that

Our rings take anywhere from 6-8 weeks from the time we RECEIVE your kit to complete. We are a small company making handmade, one of a kind custom wedding bands, so please allow time to make them for your wedding! Custom, one of a kind, handmade rings are best not rushed.
If you are interested and your wedding is looming within 6 weeks, there is a RUSH fee of $100. This charge gives your order priority and adds overnight delivery of the finished product.
Custom and personalized orders
All work is guaranteed to be made to the highest quality. Remember all work is hand made so there may be variations and irregularities that add to the character. The fingerprint outcome is based on your finger and its qualities. We are not able to make a ring like you see here if you have weak fingerprints.
