Distinctive, contemporary jewellery with a twist.

I am Jayne Traeger-Bliss from Melbourne, Australia.

I make distinctive contemporary jewellery using mainly metal and polymer clay, with occasional guest appearances by resin, textiles and other materials. My work is bold and often a little quirky.

My jewellery makes a statement, and creates interest. The combination of patterns, textures and colours evokes the raw beauty of the natural world. Like nature, it is striking and timeless, sometimes delicate, at other times forceful.

Each piece is made to order with great care and attention to detail, using superior materials, to last and be treasured for many years.

So, how did this all begin?

I have always made things and enjoyed both the creative process and mastering technical skills. I began sewing at a young age, which became a serious hobby by my teens, and have dabbled in many arts and crafts. I tried jewellery making, and knew from early on that this would be another serious pursuit. I need to always be creating – it is an innate passion, and gives me endless pleasure.

I began experimenting with metal about 5 years ago to broaden the scope and possibilities of my work. I wanted to lift the constraints of working with pre made components to allow myself more opportunity for self expression. Metal lends itself beautifully to texture and form, and there are interesting colour possibilities using metal’s natural ageing properties, or patinas. Although I love the natural and subtle colours of metal, I often find myself drawn to more vibrant colour. This led me to polymer clay around one year later. Polymer clay provides endless possibilities with regard to colour and texture, and combines beautifully with metal. I had found my winning combination

Each piece of my jewellery is a small, portable artwork - a treasure to be valued over time rather than a disposable fashion item. Each item is intended to be a pleasure. A pleasure to wear, a pleasure to look at and a pleasure to talk about. It will attract interest and be the starting point of conversations. A way to connect with people around you. I have all of this in mind throughout the design process and making of each piece.

I am grateful each and every day, for I most certainly have one of the best jobs in the world! I will be doing this for as long as I am able, experimenting, developing new techniques and growing my technical skill while crafting gorgeous jewellery.

I am also incredibly grateful for the emotional support and encouragement of my wonderful husband and kids, which allows me to pursue this work that I love so much. I am fortunate to have them in my life. In addition, my husband helps out with the admin and is the tech guru of gingerdoll studio. He is a gem.

Additional policies and FAQs
Polymer clay is very durable, however please take reasonable care as rough treatment may result in damage. Do not expose to heat (car dashboard, boiling water) as this may disfigure the shape of the piece. It may be cleaned with a damp cloth. Please keep it away from harsh cleaning agents, and try to do your perfume, hairspray, sunscreen and such before you put it on. Be kind to your piece, and it will be with you forever!

Slight irregularities in shape and colour are a feature of handmade products. Also, I make each item when it is ordered, so the item you receive will not be the one pictured. It will be as similar as it is possible for me to make it, and it will be difficult to tell it apart from the one in the photo : ). So much nicer than mass produced, machine-made products, don’t you think?
