About MaryAnneStuart
Original art, prints & cards
I love painting, drawing, colour, ink, abstract, patterns, nature, botanical art, birds, packaging design, stationery design...
For years I've been inspired by the beauty and integrity in the arts & crafts movement - William Morris is a big hero of mine - and artists, architects and designers from John Olsen, to Frank Lloyd Wright, Friedensreich Hundertwasser, to John James Audubon.
Working with watercolour pencils and crayons on sopping wet paper is my favourite method, although collage, oil painting and acrylics with ink and alchohol also run very close seconds!
Here in my Etsy shop I offer original hand made cards and artworks, as well as printed cards produced from my original artworks.
Creating art is something I’ve done all my life, although my creative output has increased hugely since my kids have grown up and left home. The last ten years have seen me on the steepest learning curve of my life: I went to community college to learn graphic pre-press skills, then university where I gained a degree in graphic design and followed that up with a diploma in visual art.
