Turning rubbish into beauty one clock at a time

I have made clocks on and off for years, mostly just for our home use or for friends. When I recently had an exhibition of paintings here in Darlington WA I thought why not go into clock making a bit more seriously? So I walk the dog in the bush and I pick up rubbish - you'd be amazed how much there is within a dog walk of home - and pile it into my workshop to the extent that I now can't remember what's at the back of the pile. So I go out there and I rummage and I see what happens - often I have no idea what I am going to make and I just pull out bits of stuff and wait for something to suggest itself. Occasionally it doesn't, so I go and do something else. But usually it does and I'll work on a piece until I hit some aesthetic or practical stumbling block - at which point I put the thing aside and turn to another similarly faltered piece and try to solve that one instead. There are usually several carcasses lying around waiting for me to stumble across the perfect bit to bolt, weld, glue, solder or nail on to resume progress towards some satisfactory conclusion. They all have battery quartz movements so in addition to being, I hope, interesting and pleasing objects in their own right, they can tell you when you are about to miss the bus, which I reckon is a pretty good deal. And you can be sure nobody else will have one the same as each is unique.
